NEW YORK -- Swedish rock group the Sounds has tapped U.S. acts Kill Hanna and Ima Robot to support a North American club tour. Kicking off Feb. 15 in Milwaukee, the six-week trek will play more than 30 dates through late March, about two-thirds of which are confirmed.

Along the way, the Sounds are slated to perform March 18 during the annual South by Southwest music conference in Austin, Texas. An as-yet-unscheduled appearance on CBS' "Last Call With Carson Daly" is also on tap.

"We never want to give the audience room to think. That can happen afterwards," Sounds bassist Johan Bengtsson says about the band's live show. "This is all about dancing and having a good time. We are a major chord band!"

Released in June, the Sounds' debut album, "Living in America" (Scratchie/New Line), reached No. 31 on Billboard's Top Independent Albums chart and No. 40 on the Heatseekers tally. The set has sold 37,000 copies in the U.S., according to Nielsen SoundScan.

Ima Robot is touring in support of its self-titled Virgin debut, and is slated to play the NME Awards Feb. 5 in London. Kill Hanna's sophomore album, "For Never & Ever," was released last year by Atlantic.

Here are the Sounds/Kill Hanna/Ima Robot tour dates:

Feb. 15: Milwaukee (The Rave)
Feb. 16: Minneapolis (The Quest)
Feb. 17: Chicago (The Metro)
Feb. 19: Toronto (Horseshoe Tavern)
Feb. 20: Detroit (Magic Bag)
Feb. 21: Cleveland (Agora)
Feb. 23: Boston (Axis)
Feb. 24: New York (Irving Plaza)
Feb. 25: Washington, D.C. (930 Club)

You must commit to shaking at least three hands and kissing seven babies, I think.

Adding Portland, Houston

draconian - 1-30-2004 at 04:51 PM

Phobes my computer is slow again. Can you add these to the tour page?

3/8 - Portland, OR - The Alladin Theater
4/17 - Houston, TX - KTBZ Buzzfest

draconian - 1-31-2004 at 05:09 PM

Never mind. On the line with tech support for fifty-five minutes and we may have resolved the problem.

RoboticTerrorSTD - 2-1-2004 at 01:08 PM

ugh.....55 minutes:wow: were you on hold most of the time?

Nicko - 2-1-2004 at 01:23 PM

Do ya no if they will go to the manchester, MEN, Apollo theater?

:Mark: - 2-1-2004 at 02:33 PM

are the dates they are now playing in the U.S. larger venues than before??

Peace
Mark

seacaptain - 2-1-2004 at 02:39 PM

I don't know about the other cities, but they're hitting the same venue in Boston as they did last fall.

draconian - 2-1-2004 at 03:29 PM

Smaller (read: better) venue here in Minneapolis than w/ Hot Hot Heat.

:Mark: - 2-2-2004 at 10:37 AM

sweet! Looking forard to seeing them again at the metro!

Peace
Mark

MichelleRene - 2-2-2004 at 11:04 AM

They played DC's 9:30 Club back here in October with Hot Hot Heat. It's a pretty big venue, but it's in a scarey part of town. They also have an upstairs which serves as sort of a balcony, which is great. You can see the stage from alot of spots in the venue. Alot of young people go there because they let 21 and up in.

IMAWreck - 2-2-2004 at 01:44 PM

the venue here in Arizona is def. larger than the place they have played before. The Marquee Theater (I'd guess a 1500 gen. admin. capacity) is a big step up- but since The Sounds and Kill Hannah get no radio love here, they are gonna be hard-pressed to get enough people there to have a crowd. As you all know IMA Robot get some play here, not much though. Its an interesting choice of venue- anyway, that was just to answer Marks question.

draconian - 2-3-2004 at 05:03 AM

Sorry guys, should have added link to the San Diego Canes show March 14 (thanks, ARTISS):

:Mark: - 2-3-2004 at 10:51 AM

Thanks for the info, imawrack, just trying to build up an image of where the 'bot are at venue wise as the metro in London is a warm size (read quite small, quite quite).

Peace
Mark

lomax - 2-3-2004 at 11:05 AM

I never been to The Metro? Is it good Mark?

:Mark: - 2-3-2004 at 01:16 PM

it reminds me of a large front room with a bar, smaller than your average village hall, but really nice and close and cosy to the action:)

Peace
Mark
