The kids at the El Rey

colforbin6 - 3-15-2004 at 08:37 PM

Well, I guess all the kids are out tonight at the El Rey. Hope you all had a fun show. Please give details to the not so lucky .netters.

regards.

Good show. Ebert gets less coherent with every appearance. I'm Your Bitch, Party All The Time and Beat Goes On were nice treats for us members of the LA crew who have become all too intimately familiar with the standard setlist. Though I must say that I can't hear Ages of Ruin enough times.

My feet hurt and I don't understand the youth of today. Lots of ritalin amped mini-Strokes getting their all ages on. Weird times.

Oh, and a heads up to head automatica -- using a beer bottle as a guitar slide is one of the most ridiculously affected rock star gestures I've ever seen. Let's either make that shit ironic and self-conscious or leave it to Ted Nugent.

Lotsa butthead kids there last night, huh? I think it's just that we're all getting older...it's so cool they played those extra songs for you all. Were alot of people from the forum there? Did you all get to meet eachother?

Poobs---creamy crack where are you? I hope you're ok....I guess your in L.A. and can't get to a computer.

Are you all going to the Glasshouse show tonight?

draconian - 3-16-2004 at 07:06 AM

I have to get to LAX, but my short review includes the observation that Party All The Time is the band's club anthem, if they want it to be, and that The Beat Goes On played live has an arrangement superior to the recording. It out-USA-for-Africas USA for Africa. Love the constant "Beat Goes On" chant by Tim over the last chorus.

I'm here, Michelle!! I haven't had much access to a computer and, to tell you the truth, my brain is so fried from all this driving to really have anything interesting to say! The show was amazing! Robotic, Artiss, Batcave and I met up in line..WE MISSED TURTLE!!!! Where were you????? So we were all in the front against the barriers..I have bruises under my boobies and on the back of my arms to prove it..:( I think I'll start a thread in the review section for the rest of the details! Michelle, we would have torn that shit up if you had been there!!! :(:D

Phobiac - 3-16-2004 at 08:49 AM

good times.

yes lots of young punks getting their crowd-surf on. it was good times and these kids really own the music now; which i have to imagine makes the band's day. creating something that can cause 100s and soon 1000s (and so on) of kids go completely nuts...crazy shit.

good to see the .netter's there. thanks for the cd marv; i'll get those t-shirts made as soon as i get back from japan and float the design by you.

all you digital camera freaks out there shooting snaps of ebert and crew can send them to phobiac@imarobot.net if you would like to share. the set was captured for posterity and my camera captured some pretty nice video of three songs; party all the time, the beat goes on and here come the bombs. of course it will be posted on .net once it's download it to my machine.

we'll show the rest of the world how completely insane the la crowd is :o

ART1SSS - 3-16-2004 at 09:54 AM

Your welcome...Phobiac. I finally got to meet you and Draconian. You guyz got a good thing goin' on this board. Keep up the good work and I'll do same with my artwork.

It was nice to meet all of you .netters especially Poobs...thanx for holdin' down the fort for us and gettin' me to the front.

Like I said before this is truely our Star Treck Convention minus the Spock ears and Kleenon costumes. It's really awesome to match the faces to your screen names. I've been on this board for a while and read most of your posts and being able to log on to my computer and actually know who you are makes this board really special.

I've got the serious case of the whiplash. My neck is towed the fuk up. Too much head bobbin' action. But...I will carry on to next show as a trooper for anotha' Ima performance.

LA show was completely insane the crowd was hangin to every word Alex blurted or mumbled out. I felt the energy of the entire band and the crowd intensify the same energy 10x's back. You just gotta' have been there to fully enjoy the experience.

=MARV=

RoboticTerrorSTD - 3-16-2004 at 11:51 AM

someday michelle we will all be able to go to a show togerther......someday. :D
no i didn't go blind, thank god!
i may be deaf though.

MichelleRene - 3-16-2004 at 12:04 PM

Yeah, they were loud when they played here. When they start groovin' to the heavier part of STD Dance my ears about fell off. But it was a great time!

Maybe someday....maybe I'll get to L.A. again. I have a friend that lives in Arizona now, but I haven't talked to her in a while. That may be a possibility of getting to L.A. , and making sure the Bot is playing while I'm there....

Another friend of mine now lives in Florida, and she's up here in Maryland for a 2 week visit. So I may take her to the Virginia Chili Cook-Off show with, Yes....WILLY HUNG and IMA ROBOT! She's not into that type of music, but I know she'd get a kick out of seeing WILLY! We're going out this Friday with another friend of mine---girls night out kind of thing.

The week my brother, his wife and my niece are going to Florida is a couple of days after the Bot is playing down there. If it was during that time I was going to try and go to one of the shows, if I went with them. But that's not gonna happen...so I'm hoping for the chili-cook-off.

Ahhh. I get to see WILLY!:duh:

poobs - 3-16-2004 at 05:27 PM

Man..I wish I could go tonight..Maybe if I leave right now, I can make it by the time they go on stage! I think my feet would literally tell me to fuck off if I made them stand for 8 hours straight again..The important thing is the Bot rocked it last night and had me leaving with a grin on my face that is still there..:duh:

Art1sss, no worries, brotha! Anything for my .net family!! :D

poobs - 3-16-2004 at 05:27 PM

Michelle, I'm jealous..:ticking:
