Ima Robot `Ima Robot' (Virgin)
Ostensibly a good powerful blast of quirky pop-rock, the debut album from this quintet lays on a heavy veneer of garage-punk and Eighties electronica.
On the one hand this could be seen as opportunistic, but taken on a purely aural level it's a fine album propelled along by Alex Ebert's
punk-on-helium vocals. HHH.
