Update from JMJ 6/8/04

Justin - 6-8-2004 at 08:37 AM

Hi y'all,

Greetings from the 323. Just wanted to update you:

After a solid 3-month nonstop outing, we have all been glad to get some time off and be at home. It's been lovely. Myself, Tim and Alex each met up with our respective significant others for little European vacations after our Milan show on May 12th. That European tour wasn't really a blowout overall, but certain gigs were great. We honestly believe that our show in Brussels may have been our best gig ever. But anyway, it was certainly a good time, and we met a lot of new (and old) fans out there. The Von Bondies were so kind to us, and a fun bunch to chill with. You know, I can't really think of a bad tour we've done. Every band we've ever rolled with has been nothing but gracious. (Even the occasionally nightmarish billing of MTV Campus Invasion yielded great frienships - those Lost Prophets fellows for instance are possibly the coolest, most generous band we've ever had the pleasure of meeting). We are truly very VERY fortunate.

Since then, we've all been collecting ourselves, getting some rest, and jumping into other exploits. I'm doing a bunch of recording work and songwriting with other artists, which is a good release and also pays the bills. But this week, the band is starting to re-convene with the intention of writing and making new demos. There are a lot of ideas popping amongst us right now, so we're stoked...and composing electronically on the laptops on the previous tours has been a good way to get some notions together which could be exploited into full-blown songs.

The Warped tour of course begins on the 25th, and it will probably be our last significant amount of touring for a while, besides in August, when we go to Japan for the Summersonic festival and possibly do another LA appearance. It's also possible there may be other gigs here and there going into the fall, especially with the intention of staying loose and trying out new material live. Who knows? Another proper tour could even pop up before the end of the year, but it depends on what opportunity brings and how deep we are into our writing & recording. Suffice it to say that it is definitely time for us to step back and make another record.

So, that's what's new for now. Sorry, nothing earth-shattering. I just wanted to stay in touch and make sure you guys get the very latest.

I don't know how many of you are up for the whole Warped punk-rock summer camp situation, but pleeease say hi if you're out there; we'd love to see friendly and familiar faces.

Love,
JMJ

I most definitely will be representing the IMAR at the warped tour, maybe just there to see IMAR.

Man, that sure was a long time touring the us/euro; glad to hear that you are getting some JMJ time.

Alex to write darker vampire stuff! I love it! Or stuff about the climb to fame…your name in lights….a thousand beats….taking the less know path…I love that old stuff!!!

Take it easy JMJ.

You better practice your half-pipe skillz.

Aaaahhh Justin, forever the humble one. Well, I've seen all the guys' "significant" others, and they are all "Magnifi-signifi-terrifi-cant" :D. Hope you all showed the ladies a nice time. Tims' girl took this pic of us Saturday night @ the King Straggler show(which in my opinion are fantasically awesome):

Always great to have you guys back in town. Feels like the Ecosystem is complete. and can't wait to hear what's been brewin' in the creative realm with you guys. Tim seemed excited, and well-rested too.

You Rock!,
Neu

nurzetrev - 6-14-2004 at 10:24 PM

...I think that falls in the 'guilty pleasures' dept...that was a movie about ....*ahem*...breakdancing...and had a...sequel *gulp*... not as kewl as
'Breakin' and ...uhhh...Breakin' 2 :lol::lol: ...but weirdly enough I also identify those in some genre along with 'RAD'...an 80's 'drama' about ....hahha...BMX!...featuring Lori Loughlin...oh Full House fame and had the song "send me an angel"...which crazy enough I've heard 3 TIMES this week!....so rediculous...but yeah rollerskates...so close...yet so far away...

poobs - 6-14-2004 at 10:36 PM

Dude..It's all about Gleaming The Cube..

lurker - 6-14-2004 at 11:53 PM

haha doesn't that have Tony Hawk in it?
...speaking fo 80s movies.. i just bought my friend the Lost Boys DVD.:P

MichelleRene - 6-15-2004 at 07:02 AM

Oh my goodness! I love The Lost Boys and especially Billy Wirth! I think we've already discussed him on the forum ....I had the biggest crush on him for years!!!
