Ok...last night my husband and I went to see The Suicide Girls Burlesque Tour at The Ottobar in lovely downtown Baltimore.....expecting what you see
on their website...and seeing the show was quite different and disappointing.
We got to the club at 10pm or so to a pretty much sold-out crowd mostly of 18-20 year olds...and nerdy guys...probably because they can't get
into the local titty bar. This show was 18 and up...that should have told me right there not to go...but I was in the mood for a freak show. Anyone
who hasn't seen The Suicide Girls website: it's a bunch of girls naked with tattoos and piercings.....kinda gothy alternative chicks.
Well, they had 2 opening bands. The first was a band called Bloom. They were kinda going for that old-school punky thing...Ramonsey sound.
Weren't too bad, a little whiney at times, but the songs were cute and catchy. Now for the second band....where do I start...oi!
Ok....just imagine: Jack Black as a Hobbit (Bill-Bo Baggins style) on guitar and vocals....the same height and all....the guitarist looked and acted
somewhat like Timmy from The Bot and the drummer looked like the drummer from Hootie and the Blowfish! Oi! If you closed your eyes it wasn't too
bad...the singer actually sounded like the singer from Cracker....weird.......they seemed to play on and on and on...finally they went off close to
midnight.
At 12:15am or so, The Suicide Girls finally went on...all in their drunken underage stupidity.......and their inexperienced DJ's...it was
quite boring. The girls weren't all that attractive...and that's being kind. The first girl danced with a hoola-hoop...oh boy, such
talent.....they didn't get naked, or nasty and even wore duck tape on their boobies....what tha fuck? I thought I'd see what I see on their
website....and I paid $12 a ticket for duct tape and underwear. I would have had more fun masterbating with myself in front of a mirror!
The next two girls came out together doing a Peter Gunn spoof...they weren't bad looking, but both looked to be a mere 16 years old......and
kinda crack-head type bodies....eesh! Unfortunately none of these girls could keep a beat to save their lives....very abrupt, jerky movements....not
sexy at all......kinda sad...
It really sucks too when you go to a show and every guy that is 6 foot+ horded the stage so you couldn't see a damn thing....men these
days....man, I'm glad I'm not 21 again...I'd be kicking some serious ass on these guys...no manners at all for the girls there last
night....no wonder they have to go to a show like this to get off......they obviously don't get laid. Well, enough on that subject!
Then..get this...they were playing some crappy ass music as well! You'll never guess what song they played next? Trust me...you'll never
guess...."Close to You" by The Capenters! What tha fuck? Is this a joke...I expected NIN, industrial goth or something...I mean...looking at
the girls on the website that's what you would expect. The fucking Carpenters...well, I guess it fit for the two anorexic girls dancing to
it...ooh...that was mean...sorry Karen.
We ended up leaving out of sheer boredom. It's pretty bad when your husband gets bored and wants to leave after watching half naked women
dancing around on the stage.
