Some pictures from Mexico and other places

Seb - 8-16-2004 at 06:20 PM

Hello all, I scanned a few Mexico pics that I took with my SLR(can't wait to get my new one). I foregot to burn the Fiji, China and Pakistan slide scans so you will have to wait until tomorrow. These are crappy scans, the pictures look much better in person.

A shot of me in the morning. I thought it looked kinda cool.

JunoRedneck - 8-16-2004 at 06:25 PM

Awesome pictures! I wanna go. This girl I know just got back from this giant wedding somewhere in Mexico. Apparently, next summer I'm going to stay at their house down there or something. That might be awkward seeing as I don't really know them and all. But I'd still be in Mexico and that's all that counts.

Evangeline - 8-16-2004 at 06:29 PM

Great pictures.

7cut - 8-17-2004 at 12:52 AM

definately ....i wanna go to Mexico as well one day. silly question but is it dangerous ? i mean, my ex boyfriend´s dad had been there like 4 years ago and he said it´s not recommendable to go around on your own but always stay in a tourist group which i dislike a lot.

happysmilely - 8-17-2004 at 09:26 AM

even better then last time... seb you have a good view on Photos...

I like the play on light and derection in the photo of yourself. super. I'm really big on personality in photos.

Seb - 8-17-2004 at 10:02 AM

Thanks for the comments.

7Cut:Mexico is fairly safe. We spent most of our time in non tourist areas(well, they were beginning to be tourist areas) and we had no problems.

Happy:I also like these better. I took them with my SLR so I have more control on what they look like, unlike with my P&S digital camera. Just wait until I get my DSLR, I will be posting alot more pics on here.

happysmilely - 8-17-2004 at 10:19 AM

good MORE :D
yeah I could tell you were using a diffrence.

EvilMotivator - 8-17-2004 at 11:17 AM

Oh man, these are some sweet pictures. I wish I could go to Mexico. It would be awesome. I think I'm going to Puerto Rico next year though, and that's even better.

bananaboat - 8-17-2004 at 03:08 PM

lurker - 8-17-2004 at 06:37 PM

yeah those are some great pcitures

7cut: i think Tijuana is probably the worst it can get... even though it is pretty safe anyway.. you just have to watch out for the crooked cops.

poobs - 8-17-2004 at 06:41 PM

Tijuana smells like diarrhea..:o

MichelleRene - 8-18-2004 at 04:07 AM

7cut - 9-1-2004 at 09:46 AM

gee, i´d stay far away from Cancun coz of all the silly springbreak people... :) Just returned from Gran Canaria and it did feel a bit Mexico-esque.

bananaboat - 9-2-2004 at 09:27 AM

Wow those are awesome pictures. Did you actually go there?

Seb - 9-2-2004 at 10:11 AM

I went to mexico, I did not go to those other places. Those are slides from when my dad went to fiji and china and when my uncle went to pakistan. My dads slides are about 20 years old and my uncles are 15.

bananaboat - 9-8-2004 at 01:55 PM

Oh, your dad and uncle have talent

Seb - 9-8-2004 at 05:14 PM

Ya , they are pretty good photographers. Photography runs in the family. My grandpa was really into it, then my dad and his brother and I am as well. Those pics look so good because they are slides, slide is 1000x better than print, but more expensive(20$ a roll). I have pics that are alot better than the ones I posted but I dont have a slide scanner:( and the film was fucked(thats why the colours and exposure looks weird, stupid xray scanners) I have a new camera set up coming soon so I will be posting more photos.

bananaboat - 9-8-2004 at 05:24 PM

That is dice, post more.

bananaboat - 9-8-2004 at 05:28 PM

The prints turned out bad? What happened to the film? That's too bad.

bananaboat - 9-8-2004 at 05:29 PM

i better stop avoiding homework..

Seb - 9-8-2004 at 06:18 PM

The radiation from the Xray machine at the airport changes the iso and can do things to the film(the dark lines in some of the pictures).

bananaboat - 9-10-2004 at 09:48 AM

Oh yea, I heard about that sort of thing, you should get a luggage check instead next time. But make it easy for the security people and have your camera bag organized. Like if you had a bunch of film put them in a plastic bag together, so that the luggage check would be quick and easy.

Seb - 9-10-2004 at 12:22 PM

Everything was organized. In LA I asked them to hand check my carry on but they put it through anyways. Good thing I didn’t bring any flashes and slave units because they would freak out and confiscate them(most slave units are radio triggered, mine are optical, still would be a problem)

prettyvacant - 9-12-2004 at 09:19 AM

ok, as a photographer myself I'm increadibly jelous. Those are AWESOME pictures, the light and the colour, I wish I had opportunities like that, not a lot of things as nice as that in the UK :(

bananaboat - 9-14-2004 at 08:32 AM

Yea, I'm jealous, I wish I was a photographer

Seb - 9-14-2004 at 12:42 PM

Thanks for the comments:D

prettyvacant - 9-14-2004 at 12:52 PM

your welcome!!!

Seb - 9-14-2004 at 04:05 PM

bananaboat, go to a camera store, ask someone for a cheap slr body and lense and you are set. Shouldnt cost more than 300$ for an old used one. B&W is cheap so start off shooting it and then move onto slide(Fuji provia 200 is rad, great colours)

prettyvacant - 9-15-2004 at 12:59 AM

I love black and white photography, its really moody and misterious.:yes:

bananaboat - 9-15-2004 at 08:13 AM

Oh gee thanks for the advice Seb, I have a friend who owns a Camera store. I'm sure he would know what you're talking about. What's B&W?

Yea me too!!

bananaboat - 9-15-2004 at 09:15 AM

man o man, I'm dumb, B&W is black and white.

Seb - 9-15-2004 at 09:29 AM

See if your parents have old camera gear. Any old slr and lens will do. I started on a ooooold Canon A1, then moved onto a AE1, and am now getting...well, I am not saying yet, it will be here soon:)

In photography, you always spend more on glass(lenses) than the body because lenses are alot more important.

bananaboat - 9-27-2004 at 11:32 AM

Thanks for the advice Seb. We used to have this awesome camera, but living in Vancouver, our house got broken into and the theives stole it. Do you have the fish eye lenses? I don't know what they're called, but those are so chill.

Seb - 9-29-2004 at 05:46 PM

No, I dont have a fish eye lens, only wide angle, my dad had no use for a fisheye. I bought myself a new camera last weekend and am pretty stoked. Got the body used for only 800 and its in really good condition. I bought a 24-70 zoom used, its a decent lens. I am going to buy a used fish eye soon as well as a fucking nice lens, 80-200 2.8(fucking fast but is expensive)

(My new camera body)

Phobiac - 9-30-2004 at 09:43 AM

Is that the EOS-1V, 35mm, or is that the EOS-1DS; digital?

The EOS-1DS is a pretty awesome digital; 11.1 megapixels!

I use a Sigma SD9 Digital SLR, but looking for a Canon or Nikon for better lenses, lens choices.

Fish eye is fun, but check out a fixed super wide angle 14mm/f2.8 lens; will cost you between $800 to $1800 depending on the brand. Yeah, not an 8mm FishEye, but great for concert shooting.

Its a Eos-1 35mm. It was the first of the eos 1 series(it went eos 1 until 94, eos1n until 2000 and then the 1v). I was considering getting a Nikon D70 but decided to stay with film(for many reasons, but I am not anti digital). The new 1Ds mark 2 is 16 megapixel and shoots 11 raw at 4 fps:o.

When I was getting the eos 1 they had a used mint 1N with vertical grip but it was 1800. I called a photo store today and they had a Canon 15mm 2.8 for 400 used, I hope they still have it tomorrow. I am starting to like they used lens I got, its fairly sharp for a 160$ lens. I was in photo store the other day and they had a 80-200 2.8L, the thing is sooooo nice, too bad my debit card limit was 300$ haha. That peleng 8mm fisheye has alot of vingetting.

Seb - 10-3-2004 at 08:53 AM

Damn, they sold the lens, I am pretty bummed so I stocked up on film, got some Fuji Sensia 100 and Ilford b&w 1600.

bananaboat - 10-6-2004 at 12:44 PM

You know, you sort of look like the singer from The Killers...
