Subversive < click it!

This is my friend Matt's band. I've gone to a couple of their rehearsals, and saw them play at a kids house just yesterday. I think they sound really good, you know, for a High School band. I think they sound a bit like Built To Spill and Fugazi mashed up. "Hideaway" is my personal favorite. At any rate, give a song or two a listen and let me know what you think.

Since I go to a school specializing in the traditional and performing arts, there are alot of bands playing locally from school. We have this coffeehouse thing once a month that pretty much serves as a cool place to play and get you sound out. There's even one band with a record deal and all (well, sort of), they're called self-titled and they have a website of the same name. I don't like them as much as I like subversive though. Trust me, they sound much more put together live.

no super there good...
the reason they sound better live is it's not recored like the bigger bands do...
anyway
Yeah we have tons of local band stuff, cheap and free
and I LOVE music, and a lot of my friends are in bands so I go to a lot of um...
but as I said most of our music kinda sucks

P.s. I'm talking about San Diego

Oh man, there's a SHIT LOAD of local bands in my area. I'm talking TONS!! I live in Lewisville, which is right in the middle of Denton (basically an art city) and Dallas. At the Lewisville Amphitheatre we have five or six all-day local music festivals. There's 2 coming up next month: Fatty Fest (www.fattyfest.tk) and Ampifest (www.ampifest.com). We recently had Yuppiefest (www.yuppiefest.com) and some other ones that I forgot the name of. Yuppie and Ampi are both bi-annual. Fatty will probably be bi-annual as well. It's pretty weird cuz we used to only have one main fest twice a year, Yuppie Fest, and just this year everyone started coming out and doing the same thing.

My favourite local bands are Rockett Queen (www.rockettqueen.com), they're not that great cuz their sound doesn't have anything special or different but they're REALLY AWESOME people; Bridges and Blinking Lights (www.bridgesandblinkinglights.com); Stealing Wenzzzday, they're also not that great but it's my best friend's band; Designated Johnny (www.designatedjohnny.com), they're pretty rad but really full of themselves, I went to school with Chicken (lead singer) but he graduated last year; Henry Holt, a very rad band that I don't presently have the website for. I think that's enough for now!

The biggets (and best i suppose) bands in just my school have members who I either know or am friend's with. Other than subversive, theres Self-titled (self-titled.com) though they are a bit too pop for me, and a simpler time (www.purevolume.com/asimplertime) who are pretty cool, and hey check out the pictures on that last site, i took most of those meself.
