This is totally off the ImaRobot subject, but does anybody know how to care for a baby red-tail boa constrictor snake? One appeared in my
daughter's room a couple of weeks ago. (Don't know how she thought she could keep it a secret from me. ) Then it escaped. So I bought a
mouse to lure it back. The snake was gone for 10 days and it looked like we had a pet mouse instead. Then today I heard a shriek followed by
"Mom, I found the snake!". It had slthered over her bare foot and scared her half to death. I thought it was pretty funny.
Anyway, it looks like we have a pet snake again. It ate the mouse.
Do I have to feed it live mice? It's pretty gross and I feel bad for the mouse. How often do they need to eat? Can I handle it after it eats
or do I have to wait before picking it up? I need answers 'cuz you know I am gonna be stuck caring for it since Flower is now afraid to touch
it. Any helpful snake adviceout there?poobs - 10-2-2004 at 04:41 PM
Kill it..That'll save you from having to feed it mice!! :duh:FlowerDancerL - 10-2-2004 at 04:54 PM
I love you, Poobs - but I'm too chicken to kill it! (I laughed my ass off at your no-nonsense reply) I guess I'm just a hipocrite.
I'll eat something someone else has killed but I can't kill anything myself. Is that a good thing or a bad thing? Dunno. But the snake is
kinda pretty in her own reptilian way!

Shhh..You want to know a secret? I wouldn't be able to kill it either..I love animals..:duh: I'm sure they have websites for this kind of
thing..
I know!! Why don't you just force it to become a vegetarian?? It's not like it'll argue with you? And if it doesn't eat the
veggies, then it'll die and your problem will be solved!!! :D
And tell your sissy daughter that she'll have to deal with it if she wants to keep it!!

Mom here - not Flower
Once again - good advice from the Poobster (even more meaningful since Flower is a vegiterian! Unlike her carnivore Mom )
Hey, Poobie! Where the hell is a meth lab in Excramento? I always thought So Cal was meth headquarters. (I'm a criminal defense attorney and
the bastard Feds keep telling me Riverside and San Bernadino are Methamphetamine headquarters)
I guess I'll just have to deal with snake- E- poo! I'll keep you posted (ha ha ha PUN)
Can I talk to Brody about the cop stuff? He seems like such a good kid and I wouldn't want him to be misguided! There are good cops and bad
cops, ya know.poobs - 10-2-2004 at 07:08 PM
I don't know any meth-lab locations up here..I've just heard about them..Uhh..Yeah..That's it.. I don't know..A lot of the people up here look like tweakers, so I just assumed.. My sister actually works for child protective services, and worked in juvie halls
before that, and has seen her share of gnarly meth-addicts..Blech..
I think Brody is over his cop-phase..Though, I'm sure he would have been one of the good ones..Maybe a few beatings here and there, but I'm
sure they would have all been justified..Now he's gone back to his original dream job..A paleontologist..:D
And defo keep us posted on the snake crisis! I might know some people who can "take care" of your problem, if you know what I mean..
And mom, why don't you get your own username?? I mean, it's nice that you and your daughter are close enough to share the same online
persona and all, but it's just going to get confusing! Especially if you both become as addicted to this board like some of us here..We
don't want you guys scratching each other's eyes out while fighting over posts!! poobs - 10-2-2004 at 07:08 PM
Holy crap! That was a looong post!! :o:duh:FlowerDancerL - 10-2-2004 at 07:29 PM
Poobie - U R right - I have to give up this post to my kid - although snake-E-POOO IS STILL CRAWLING AROUND MY CHEST! eeeeek!prettyvacant - 10-2-2004 at 10:57 PM
you feed it dead baby mice i think JunoRedneck - 10-3-2004 at 07:59 AM
I'm afraid of snakes. Or maybe grossed out. Or both. And a paleontologist is an awesome job choice, I must admit.prettyvacant - 10-3-2004 at 08:19 AM
I love snakes, i really want one or a rat. i couldn't deal with feeding my snake dead mice tho.happysmilely - 10-3-2004 at 08:33 AM
First off, research.
Red Tail, nice those have a nice pattern... anyway
Look up stuff on the net http://www.veterinarypartner.com/Content.plx?P=A&A=1256&...
if you’re going to have this kind of animal you better know how to deal with it because exotics are very sensitive.
If you can't deal with it, sell it, it's only fair to the animal.
I've had a Red tail before but I was a little kid so don't remember how to deal with them.
good luck.
As far as Rats go, they make great pets, I love um :D
I can't feed snakes mice/rats because I like them so much.
At times you have to feed them live mice/rats right?
I don't know. But if your looking for a realy good pet, I love rats.

just get a turtle, solves everything! And sell the snake:duh:7cut - 10-4-2004 at 12:05 AM
i´m not too familar with snakes ...i´m more familar with lions. i´d take it to an animal shelter or to the zoo ...or let Steve Irwin fly in from
Australia so he´ll sit on it

OMG! My Mom is totally embarrassing saying I'm afraid of Buttercup (the snake). I admit, it freaked me out when it crawled over my foot, and I
had a nightmare - but I'm NO SISSY, POOBS! (I'm taller than my mom, at 5" 9 1/2 " watch out!). I just decided I don't like
snakes and we're giving it away to my friend.
Anyway - I banned my Mom from using my post name - so she is now "FlowersMom" (but she doesn't know how to log in (ha ha ha )! Now she
can't embarrass me anymore!
P.S. I really love my mom (but it's MY ROBOT FORUM!)poobs - 10-4-2004 at 10:08 PM

OK maybe I'm a little bit of a sissy with reptiles crawling over my body. (You would be, too!) Is that Brody when he was a baby? He's soo
Cute! Reminds me of my little nephew , John.FlowerDancerL - 10-4-2004 at 10:19 PM
P.S. I don't think turtles eat bologna - do they?7cut - 10-4-2004 at 11:40 PM
Did she get her name from THIS Buttercup?
poobs - 10-5-2004 at 05:49 AM
Umm..That's ME when I was a baby..FlowersMom - 10-5-2004 at 01:54 PM
HA HA Daughter! I do so know how to log on!
Anyway, thank you HappySmiley for the link to info on boas. After reading that Buttercup could live for 30 years and be 10 feet long and weigh 50 or
more pounds, she is definitely way too much responsibility. Flower's friend is supposed to take her - I hope he is a responsible young man. If
not - anybody want a snake??
BTW - "FlowersMom" is such a boring postname. How do you guys like "BellyBot" for bellydancing robot. I think it's funny,
but then I'd get called "Belly" for short! Hmmmm.DylerPlummer - 10-5-2004 at 01:56 PM

For everyone's information snakes don't crawl.poobs - 10-5-2004 at 04:54 PM
Well soooooooorry, smartypants..FlowerDancerL - 10-5-2004 at 09:12 PM
Hey, Envelope - I don't care if snakes crawl or slither or creep or glide or whatever the hell they do to move - I swear to God , Buttercup was
slithering on my leg when she had escaped and I was sleeping and it creeped me out and I can't keep her cuz now I have nightmares! And DUH! I
know "crawling" requires legs! It's a discriptive figure of speech.
So if you claim to know the appropriate terminology for the way a snake moves its body MAYBE YOU SHOULD TAKE HER! (My friend hasn't picked her
up yet)
You're so frickin serious, Envelope - are you empty or sealed or what?7cut - 10-5-2004 at 11:38 PM
watch out for snakes....they have a strong appetite. - like me.
FlowerDancerL - 10-6-2004 at 10:02 PM
That pic is crazy!!! I would've been scared - but guess what. I picked up the snake and carried her around today. Buttercup wasn't so
creepy after all. She just hung out in the pocket of my robe. My mom says we still can't keep her, though.
BTW, I think it's really cute the way you write "zee" in stead of "the" in a lot of your posts. Do you have a cute German
accent for real? I'm always speaking in a fake accent - British, arab, Mexiacan, asian - just for fun. but I can't do German!7cut - 10-6-2004 at 11:44 PM
when speaking German i sorta adapted the Austrian accent i like a lot ....when speaking English i can talk British-English but prefer a slight
American accent to hide my whereabouts. i can even talk Texas !!! what makes out
a Californian accent ????
FlowerDancerL - 10-6-2004 at 11:53 PM
Californian accent?? Do we have an accent??-7cut - 10-6-2004 at 11:56 PM
the surf slang i suppose ? "off the wall", "rad" ???
like totally....
I say stuff like that and I can't help it. I live with four people who think they are English Majors (not even in school) and find enjoyment
in correcting me even if I am right. "wanna sit on the couch?" and they say, "you mean sofa?" IT really gets on my nerves. I just
want to be loved like anyone else. I am open at times and closed at others. That day I was closed. I am not too good at any accents. tah tah for nowEvangeline - 10-7-2004 at 10:56 AM
Dude... that picture is going to give me nightmares....
Californians do have an accent, most sound really stoned/ laid back, and some have a more resonating tone to their voice.7cut - 10-7-2004 at 11:58 PM
does the word "dude" hail from California as well ????
FlowerDancerL - 10-8-2004 at 09:01 PM
I know what snakes do - they wriggle! Anyway, I watched Buttercup eat a pinky mouse and it was creepy! I took a picture with my digital camera but
it's not clear enough to post. Basically it was a mini picture of 7cut's post (the snake with half a torso and legs sticking out) Nature
is so cruel!
As far as accents go - we make fun of Valley girls and Stoners all the time! (stereotypical California accents) I don't think I have any kind of
accent. But who knows. maybe I'm wrong.TurtleEnterprises - 10-9-2004 at 05:02 PM
eat it FlowerDancerL - 10-9-2004 at 05:10 PM
Do you enjoy snake? If so - baked, broiled or BBQed? Sauce? Since you encouraged "eating it" perhaps we can accommodate you palate! Just
let us know - it can be delivered to your door!
