I used to listen to him every single night as a 12,13,14 year old through my ear phones from 10 till 12.. Kleenex,Spizz every band from the Punk era
until well until now.. A big loss to the music world..
John's influence and appeal is deomstrated by the fact that even Prime Minister Tony Blair has added his voice to the tributes pouring in:
Mr Blair's official spokesman said the premier was "genuinely saddened by the news".
The spokesman went on to say:
"His view is John Peel was a genuine one-off, whether on Radio 1 or Radio 4. He was a unique voice in British broadcasting and used that voice to
unearth new talent and different subjects and make them accessible to a much wider audience."
"The Prime Minister knows he will be missed by everyone."DylerPlummer - 10-26-2004 at 03:24 PM

My brother (who's a bit odd.. but i love him) just rang me from Ireland not more than ten minutes ago to tel me how sorry he was to hear the
news.. He said it bought tears to his eyes as he remembered how i used to keep him awake all night listening and taping songs from the John Peel show
and how he used to take my giant sized earphones off me when i had fallen asleep poobs - 10-27-2004 at 10:52 AM
AAAAAAAAAAWWWWWWWWWWWWW!!! That's such a sweet story!! :DDylerPlummer - 10-27-2004 at 10:55 AM
Ha.. Mad Michael.. He really is a big ninny.. :duh:
I also remember my dad coming in and shouting at me for staying up so late :ticking:
I even heard on the radio that at Glastonbury next year they're gonna name one of the stages The John Peel stage..poobs - 10-28-2004 at 04:49 AM
I guess it's a nice gesture, but what does he care if a stage is named after him? People should do this while these "legends" are
alive!! MichelleRene - 10-28-2004 at 06:44 AM
Was he like a DJ or something?
Oh man, I love Glastonbury! That's true though, they wait until people die before they get any recognition.......sad.
