Coachella Line-Up

poobs - 2-18-2003 at 04:32 PM

This is what they have listed on KROQ.com..I must say, I'm a bit perturbed that bands that have played before are back, while others that I would really love to see aren't there..but, whatever..It sounds aight so far..It would be nice if Coachella.com would actually put info. up, but whatever..I'm personally stoked about Underworld, among others of course..Wait a minute..Where's Ben Kweller? I heard he was playing..Maybe he's part of the "many more"..Hmm..

Beastie Boys
Red Hot Chili Peppers
White Stripes
Queens Of The Stone Age
Jack Johnson
Underworld
N*E*R*D
The Donnas
Hot Hot Heat
Ben Harper
Groove Armada
Johnny Marr
Ben Folds
And many more…

Mm I love Underworld, mainly Beaucoup Fish, that album rules. It's great driving music, it's gotten me through many terrible commutes. :)

Damn, we need one of these giant cool festivals around here...

Doesn't your family live in the vicinity? Or am I totally off again a' la' "Guns n' Roses are playing Philly are you going even though you live in the Boston area?" You could make a long weekend out of it.

I am looking forward toThe Polyphonic Spree, Ladytron, Fischerspooner, N.E.R.D., Black Eyed Peas, Hot Hot Heat, Kinky (frighteningly high energy Mexican rock), Z-Trip (Pooba, I'm dragging you there), and Felix Da Housecat. If Z-Trip mixes in the Sugar Hill Gang's "Apache" I will jump around like a crazy person.

All right, I just checked out the official lineup and it looks like there will be a lot of conflict of interest that weekend. Too many good bands, including:
Sonic Youth
Division of Laura Lee
Talib Kweli
Mooney Suzuki
Badly Drawn Boy
The Music
Soundtrack Of Our Lives

seacaptain - 2-18-2003 at 08:11 PM

Wow, and Sonic Youth! I love SY concerts, I've been to three or four.

Yea, I'm from Redlands, which is about an hour from Indio, I think. Maybe a little more. I can't afford flying back and forth though. I may have to go to Cal to visit some schools, if I get accepted out there--but that would come before the Coachella weekend, I think. I don't know what's taking those Cal schools so long.

Has anyone heard of Tortoise? Or The Kinison? I feel a little out of the loop on these.

seacaptain - 2-19-2003 at 10:20 AM

I've heard some Tortoise, but not a lot. I don't know much about them though, but I dig what I've heard (basically just a bunch of mp3s).

That hiphop group with Aesop Rocks/Mr Lif, et al sounds pretty great too.

Not to mention the Spree and Johnny Marr and Thievery Corp and Black Eyed Peas...

Grr this is just going to annoy me, I should stop reading this thread...

Damn, those are my exact thoughts. Everything I've heard has been tits!(new phrase I heard last night that has had me in stitches ever since)

draconian - 2-20-2003 at 01:15 PM

So it's essentially a synonym for "good?" I'll try it out in conversation tomorrow, see if I can keep a straight face.

seacaptain - 2-20-2003 at 06:55 PM

It might not work so well in medical school

draconian - 2-20-2003 at 07:25 PM

Yeah, the students are tits but the professors are kind of bouncy knockers.

JerseyJoJo - 2-21-2003 at 12:01 AM

Hmmm...the "t" word has a whole different meaning on "Oz."

poobs - 2-21-2003 at 12:47 PM

draconian - 2-21-2003 at 01:08 PM

I have a sinking feeling there are going to be some absurd conflicts that weekend.

poobs - 2-21-2003 at 03:37 PM

Oh totally..But I just don't even care..I'm not going to get screwed over like I was last year for Bjork..I couldn't even see!! So this year I'm planting myself and staying for however many bands I need to so that I can catch a glimpse of the awesome BLUR!!!:D
