I haven't heard from the band or their management yet, but I know they wanted to play shows late March. They like SpaceLand, so....

I'd bet it's correct.

As soon as I scrape some cash together I'm so there.. :D

JunoRedneck - 3-4-2005 at 04:02 PM

Anyone know of a way I can age about 4 years in the next couple weeks? Any tips would be most appreciated...

TurtleEnterprises - 3-4-2005 at 04:03 PM

u2u justin tell him you wanna go to let you in the back door:)

JunoRedneck - 3-4-2005 at 04:17 PM

Turtle, you're brilliant. That is a way better idea then attempting to age prematurely. He probably won't listen, but it's worth a try, eh?

7th Street and Alvarado

HOLLER!

Justin - 3-4-2005 at 04:58 PM

Mi Familia Roboto,

This is indeed true...it's been on the books for a while now, but now it's a firm date: March 26th (incidentally my 35th birthday) at Spaceland! It's gonna be fun. The people from Spaceland are all old homies of mine from the Beck days and then even before that in my days with Medicine/Electric Company and The Elastic Purejoy. GREAT people who put on fantastic bills. Those were the promoters of that wonderful night at Henry Fonda back in January '04. Anyway, as far as the age limit, I'm afraid I have no ability to influence that, though it PAINS us to do 21 + shows because we've tried to uphold an all-ages policy at most of our own gigs. Sorry about that, truly.

Anyway, as support we have our good buddies: LA's wonderful Run Run Run, as well as the reunification of a cool band from a few years back called Possum Dixon.

Please come! If she's up for it, maybe I'll bring the baby! :D She came to Staple's center, which was pretty cool. She tripped out on the high-tech light show, but the volume was a bit much for her. Good first concert, though - not bad for only 7 weeks old, methinks.

Anyway, it's going fine out here on the D/D tour. We're in Vancouver today. Surprisingly receptive, mostly older audiences...and when I say older I mean my age to about 45 :-) Anyway, the band themselves are SO cool to us...John Taylor and I have had a few "bass chats" which is so exciting. He's a strong influence on me. Otherwise, everyone else in the band and crew are healthy and happy.

Talk to y'all soon!

Love,
JMJ

JunoRedneck - 3-4-2005 at 05:07 PM

Happy Birthday... soon. And once again, that picture is adorable.

TurtleEnterprises - 3-4-2005 at 05:13 PM

Wow Zellys the cutest pie!
See you at spaceland Justin.

poobs - 3-4-2005 at 05:31 PM

AAAAWWWWWWW!! Damn it..That's seriously a beautiful baby..Not that I expected any less from the two of you.. ;) I'm so psyched for this show..Now to make rental car arrangements..:duh:

seacaptain - 3-4-2005 at 05:35 PM

Wow, Possum Dixon too... wish I could be there! That sounds like it will be a ripping show.

Zelly's fro is coming in nicely! :)

RiffRaff - 3-4-2005 at 06:29 PM

The Raff will be in effect.

draconian - 3-5-2005 at 12:39 PM

There is an outside outside chance I might be able to make this show...and now join me in pondering my Mr. Rogers neighborhood existence, as I look forward to seeing not only The 'Bot, but also people named The Raff and Z'Boo.

happysmilely - 3-5-2005 at 02:05 PM

I'm about one year off :( soon I'll be 21 :(, mah!
as long as Justin says sorry I feel better.
honestly, not really but thank you Justin
Ima has been very kind to try for all ages.
Sorry I can't be there...

Run Run Run are cool guys  Glad the tours treating you well!

Zelly Is Soooooo cute.
My little sister named our new Rat Zelly, after JMJ's Zelly.
I don't know if that's a nice thing to hear, but I guess it's a complement. (I named mine mr.poke)

Zelly(not as cute as yours) and Mr. Poke (what a dork I am)

That was a very bad photo but oh well...

minimandy14 - 3-5-2005 at 05:56 PM

Are you serious?

FlowerDancerL - 3-5-2005 at 09:51 PM

Yeah. I was joking with my mom that I'd just get a fake ID and she said no way - so any takers? I used her credit card, but she won't make me or anybody pay. It's only 15 bucks or something.

happysmilely - 3-6-2005 at 12:37 AM

i need a fake ID just for shows

corkey16 - 3-6-2005 at 06:04 PM

7th and Alvarado...already mentioned. Maybe 4th and Alavarado. Go there. Not sure what the going price is these days. I would guess $75 - $100.

batcave_baby - 3-8-2005 at 04:28 PM

Every responsible teen should have a fake ID.

minimandy14 - 3-8-2005 at 08:20 PM

Totally, because then you can act like a "responsible" adult, right?

TurtleEnterprises - 3-9-2005 at 11:00 AM

Okay so whos actually going to Spaceland? How is this place, never been.

batcave_baby - 3-9-2005 at 12:47 PM

The venue is pretty rad; I don't recall the sound being either amazing, or horrible...um, I guess in size it's comparable to maybe the Troubadour, but a bit more spacious feeling. They have decently priced drinks, some space-age decor for your pleasure, pool tables in the back loungy area, couch(es) for drunken friends to fall asleep on and leave you alone all night, etc. Lots of good bands play there...they used to have Club Synthetic there about two years ago. I recall a decent size floor, and easy access to the stage.

RoboticTerrorSTD - 3-9-2005 at 07:50 PM

ima try and get my ass in!

TurtleEnterprises - 3-9-2005 at 09:41 PM

Good Job, Robotica:)

poobs - 3-9-2005 at 10:11 PM

It's not sold out is it? Robotic, you have to go!!!

TurtleEnterprises - 3-9-2005 at 10:19 PM

I dont think it's sold out but I think Robotics 18-19?

Or pay nothing. Just modify your current ID then go to the DMV and say you lost it. It works here.

I have a couple friends that made fake ids in highschool saying they were 22 and from nunavut. When ever they were in the US and got booze the clerk would give them a funny look, scratch their head and ask where Nunavut is. Not once did they ever question the id's haha.

7cut - 3-10-2005 at 01:10 AM

whatīs the deal with those 21+ shows?
i mean, in Europe you can attend a show being lik e 14 as long as youīre out of the venue at midnight. and youīre not served alcohol until 18 but if thatīs why those shows are 21+ then why donīt they just let people in but just donīt give them hard drinks unless theyīre 21 ? thatīs no reason not to let `em in. and ima canīt be considered "x-rated" ....well, maybe the "showerfinger" part in one lyric.

and donīt they let you in if thereīs someone over 21 or a parent at your side ? works over here...

poobs - 3-10-2005 at 05:41 AM

Sometimes people over 21 don't want to deal with youngins..:P

Curses Robotic! You must find a way in!!

happysmilely - 3-10-2005 at 11:49 AM

LOL, it was more of a joke on advice but thanks a lot eveyone!
I should make my own. plus I'm almost 20, I could pass for 21.

I do agree that some olders don't like the teenys.
but it's all so venues can make the $$$ off of drinks.
can't blame them really.
but yes it sucks...

Tickets

Justin - 3-10-2005 at 07:06 PM

Hi everyone,
FYI, I've been told that Spaceland is doing a certain # of pre-sale tix (on ticketweb, etc) that are close to selling out, but they will definitely save some for sale at the door on the day of show, as well.
Best,
JMJ
(in Portland)

poobs - 3-10-2005 at 07:16 PM

That's good to know..I now know it's going to be a big show so I need to get there super early so that I can ensure my darling Turtle and I a space in the very front..:D

Oh..And Batcave..And Marvin..And..And..Anyone else going?

Happy or Robotic, I have my old driver's license that one of you could use. It's expired so sometimes the doormen point that out, but I used it successfuly for years because I was too lazy to go back to the DMV after I lost my current ID. Its probably worth the try???

Neuwave - 3-10-2005 at 11:41 PM

Dang!! Zelly is a little cutie. Can't believe how big she is already. Glad you're bonding with John Justin. That must be a dream come true. I heard Roger is really into remixing. Where can we find his stuff? Hopefully we can all celebrate your birthday with ya. Hate to be a downer, but March 26th is the date my brother died in 2003. I look at it this way. Now I have something counteract sad thoughts on that day, and now I'll never forget Justins' B-day.

poobs - 3-11-2005 at 06:34 AM

Damn Neu.. So are you going for sure? Cuz I would LOVE to see you!!!

Neuwave - 3-11-2005 at 02:45 PM

Hells Yeah!! I didn't know you were coming down. Sweet!

Not more free medical advice about your constant epididymitis problem, Riff. How many times do I have to tell you to quit picking at it.

Will be stuck between two difficult rotations that weekend, I am going out of my mind for an Ima Robot show so tough times.

RiffRaff - 3-11-2005 at 11:15 PM

If I had listened every time someone told me "don't pick at that" I wouldn't be where I am today.
