I get to the venue and park in a super narrow street try to make a u-turn and scrape my car, I tried to stay positive cause I knew that I was gonna
get to see ImaR. So we get in the venue and I tell the girl i'm on the will call list, she checks the list i'm not even on it so im like WTF
i go to the car to get my confirmation get back to the ticket booth and realize that I bought the wrong show, I actually bought a ticket for Phantom
Planet. I felt like such a idiot. Still trying to stay positive of course. I finally got to meet Poobs! And I love her more now then ever. Met Artiss.
Seen RiffRaff from a far (very cute). No sign of Batcave .
We of course were in the front, the crowd was pretty mellow I figured since it was 21 and over. The first band was RUN RUN RUN which were pretty good
there sound was pretty messed up you could harldy hear their vocals.
Not sure what the 2nd band was but there werent that great.
Saving the best for last was IMAROBOT, They were so awesomely awesome! It was Justins birthday and the coolest thing ever happened Alex gave Poobs the
mic to sing Happy Birthday to Justin! I don't remember the set list to well. There new songs were really good! They sang Ages of Ruin! Im sure
the others will come on later and give more details. I had so much fun. Hopefully the next show will be all ages for the youngins'.:DJunoRedneck - 3-27-2005 at 11:47 AM
I'm glad you had fun Sounds like an awesome show.Jette - 3-27-2005 at 01:24 PM

so sweeeet turtle, glad to hear you had a blast. Can't wait for an all ages. Thanks for telling us how the night went down :D
I'm so disappointed I missed this show!
batcave_baby - 3-27-2005 at 03:06 PM
I had my tickets and my plans all laid out. Then Tuesday night I got really sick; my body was just freaking out, my temperature went from normal to
over 103 within a few hours. Since I just had the baby less than two weeks before that, I called the doctor, and they made me go into the hospital
immediately. I'll spare you all the details...I just got out of the hospital last night. Too late to make it to the show, and on way too many
meds to drive anyway. So disappointed. More show details please! Poobs, I'll have to mail you the Ellen stuff.Phobiac - 3-27-2005 at 04:03 PM
Still in Japan. Anyone know how to get out of this country?
Poops takes the mic; how sweet is that.
So Turtle; RiffRaff was there, huh?
Phobiaccorkey16 - 3-27-2005 at 04:26 PM

Glad you had a good gig Poobs and Turtle :D
Sorry to read you missed the show Batcave.. Hope you're feeling a 100% better nowdraconian - 3-27-2005 at 05:57 PM
Poops needs to hightail it back to Sactown so we can hear this story from the first person!
Thanks for the report--anyone grab a setlist? (I haven't checked the other forums yet so someone might have posted it)TurtleEnterprises - 3-27-2005 at 06:19 PM
Shes heading home monday!RiffRaff - 3-27-2005 at 07:49 PM
Poobs was going straight Beatlesmania throughout the set. A great show.EvilMotivator - 3-27-2005 at 09:54 PM
Sooo, I went, but couldn't get in (not even after Alina Begged the effing bastard bouncers). I listened to the show from outside, though. It was
quite nice. I'm pretty sure they played Alive, Song #1, Dirty Life, STD Dance, Scream, Dynomite, 12=3, Here Come the Bombs, Ages of Ruin,
Let's Talk Turkey, Black Jettas, Voodoo Love, Hot Banana, Disconnected, and I believe one more new song (not in that order). There's a funny
story about Scott and his girlfriend, but she made me promise not to tell. So sorry. Some of you who went may have seen my drunk sister and her
boyfriend inside. She was the one with the pink shirt with two Ima Robot i's on her boobs, and one on the back. Well, I either need to get a fake
ID, or they need to play some all ages shows. Pronto.
I'm Still Standing
Justin - 3-27-2005 at 10:32 PM
Thanks to all who came and gave us their love and support...it really means a lot, particularly when you're doing what we're doing:
Sequestering yourselves in a small room with the task of writing piles of brilliant songs for your sophomore record. It's a real breath of fresh
air to rock out with true homeez. FYI, the new songs we played were Disconnect, Voodoo Love, Creep Me Out, and Hot Banana. I thought they went
over good. This band is very very fortunate to have such fun, intelligent, musically sophisticated fans.
Anyway, the whole evening was a joy, we all really got a kick out of playing live in LA again, but this time in a realistic space and not the
"enormo-dome" to 18,000 soccer moms and their semi-reluctant husbands. (An uncool generality, I know).
Marvin made me a really REALLY dope shirt with me and Z on the front (Marvin, can I make a straight-up t-shirt with that logo sometime?), and Poobs
was on point with the Happy Birthday a capella. Who else from the board did I talk to?
Everyone was so cool. Alex and Alina bought me some incredible ice cream from Mahshti Malone's that they had chilling on dry ice in their trunk
to hand off to me after the show. Ice cream = love. Our lawyer Francois made the comment today that the energy was so intense that he wanted to
"beat himself up" and it was "possibly the best IMA show I've ever seen". Hehehe. He's our man...and believe me,
Francois has been to a LOT of shows. Best lawyer a band could ever have. Our new manager Tony Ciulla was also representing and all smiles, as were
the 103.1 massive and the original Spaceland posse Mitchell, Julie & Jennifer. Also, I hope some of you noticed our man Joey Waronker chilling
on the sidelines.
I couldn't bring my wife & baby, it was WAY past their bedtime, but Zelly says holla to everyone. I think they could probably hear the gig
from my house anyway.
Last thing: We know, we know - we've GOT to do all-ages shows. It's a priority, believe me. I want my baby to get in too. ;-)
Thanks again,
JMJ for IMA
Older, but still feeling like a youngster.EvilMotivator - 3-27-2005 at 11:35 PM
Ah yes, I forgot about seeing Joey. He's shorter than I would have imagined.ART1SSS - 3-28-2005 at 02:52 AM
Hey Everyone!!!
I havn't posted any designs ImaR related in a long time so I'm gonna show you guyz the JMJ and Zelly design, which was suppose to be for
Justin's eyes only. I hope you don't mind Justin?? Since we are all familia around here I couldn't deny these bot fans any secrets.
Here's the JMJ & ZELLY DESIGN...You could totally see the Jelly Belly influence on the design.
This is actually the most personal and in depth design I've ever did for a band even though its a cute and fun cartoon design. It resembles
something special in Justin's life and I would like him to have this little keep safe for his B-Day. It's not much...but I hope he
cherishes it forever.
And to answer your question, Justin, "YES"...you can definitely use it to make as many T-Shirts your heart desires. Let it be known,
"JUSTIN AND ZELLY FO' LIFE!!!"
Here's a lil' tid bit about this design I actually finished the design on the day of the show. I really wanted to have sumthin' for
the rest of the band but I thought that being JMJ's B-day and all it would totally ruin his moment. Plus...I have plenty of photos of this show
for the next design I'm goin' to attempt on doing in the near future.
This time I kept it real and had JMJ sport his trademark fro. Cuz...the last design I did of JMJ he wasn't JMJ. Dood...you should keep the
fro...you look so much younger especially after you had Zelly in your life.
Thank You...Justin, Alex, Timmy, and Scott for putting me on the "List" for Spaceland. I don't think a band have ever done that for
me. It made that night really special. Woah...I feel so important now. If I knew this was gonna happen...I would have made the design early and try
my luck scoring a ticket to the Duran Duran show at Staples or the SD show. Just Kidding!!!
Anywayz...enough with the Hallmark moments. I had a real blast at the Spaceland and I was at front row center right next to our famous .netter of all
"Poobs." I was so happy to see Alex give the mic to her and sing happy B-Day for Justin. She's a total rockstar in my book.
It was nice to be in company of a lot of hardcore ImaR fans. It just was a perfect show for me, I couldn't ask any more from them. They totally
ripped the roof off fuckin' Spaceland. I myself was lost in all the mayhem...head banging and sing to every lyric spit out of Alex's lips.
I was sooo....into the music my glasses came right off during their show and I was scrambling all over the place trying to find them. Luckily...I
found them on the ground without any scratches or any damages to it. Note to one self- Wear contacts at a ImaR show. All in all it was the best ImR
show I've ever experienced.
Oh yeah...I give a huge shout-out to Scott's girl, "Paula" she was a real delight to chat with.
Thanks Again...Ima Robot!!! Keep doin' watcha doin'. I'm gonna support you every step of the way. I've gotcha' back!!!
=MARV=draconian - 3-28-2005 at 04:50 AM
Artiss, that's another incredible design! And the super-sized blue headphones make an appearance, I love it.
I'm also crossing my fingers for more small venue shows, however I do remember the old White Stripes opener in the Cal amphitheater that played
out pretty well--proving the 'Bot can flood a large space with their energy--it is all about getting the right people in the seats, which means
getting paired with the right band on the next tour. The speculation about that one is just around the corner...seacaptain - 3-28-2005 at 08:25 AM
Agreed, another great happy design from Marvin... awesome.
I'm dying to hear some new bootlegs over here on the other side of the US. Help me out, dang it. Where were the tapers? I want to hear
"Hot Banana." Phobiac - 3-28-2005 at 08:31 AM
Man oh Man. 1:30am here in good old Tokyo and it appears that I missed out on a hallmark Ima Robot show. The Henry Fonda will always hold a place
with an intensity that I can't imagine being matched, but it sounds like it might have at this show; craziness.
I wish I was there to say hello to all the .net faithful, but I'm sure there will be others.
ART1SSS, I love the adoring look you put on JMJ's face; that my friend says it all.
This last night in Tokyo was a balst; I'll spare you the war stories. Tomorrow afternoon back to good 'ole hermosa beach.
Check out all you peeps at the next Ima show.
Shitsureishimas;
Phobiac-san.

This is just too cool!!!!!
Looks like I'm in the club with Batcave, Phobiac, and Drac. Once again I missed a brilliant night. I was in Hollywood in a deep, deep,
exhausted sleep recovering from post Werewolf symptoms of the full moon the night before( ), but think I was awaken at one time from vibrations of the show. Man Turtle!! Reading your story, I didn't think you were going
to get in. Glad you did though. Looks like Poobs kept the .net spirit alive though.
ART1SSS? You are the man!!! That is a killer design.

then youre over twice as old as me :wow:poobs - 3-28-2005 at 01:51 PM
Oh my goodness..What do I even need to add? The recaps by my lovely fellow .netters were dead-on! I guess I could start with parking and seeing Justin
walking towards me yelling "Sacramento!".. I'm glad I got a
chance to wish him a Happy Birthday and to chat for a moment..He is truly one of the nicest human beings I've ever met..Let's see..After
that, I got a sweeeeet parking spot directly across the street from the club and did a damn find job of parallel parking, if I do say so myself..:duh:
Their set was amazing..It was so completely obvious that they were all having a blast up there..The new songs were killer..For some reason, they
sounded familiar..maybe it's that Ima Robot-sense I have..:wow: Of course, one of the highlights for me was Alex putting the mic in my face to
sing to Justin..Though I'm sure that was a low-point for all the bastards that had to hear my horrible singing voice..Ahhh..But wow..Such an
incredible show..
I kept my eye on the door for the rest of the crew and even thought I had a Batcave sighting, but it was some other chick with pink hair..:duh: It
wasn't the same without Batcave, Neu, Phob, and Drac, but somehow I still managed to have a good time.. But seriously, you all were missed..
Other highlights for me were of course meeting Turtle for the first time (awww..she's so cute! Love her!!!), seeing Marvin and his amazing talent
again, spotting Riff from across the room just like in those romance novels, my buddy Matt saying that's one of the best shows he's ever
seen even though he worships Mary J. Blige, and meeting Scott's gorgeous and awesome woman Paula..What a little sweetheart! Oh! And seeing Senior from Junior Senior! All in all, the whole night from start to
absolute finish was incredible..Totally worth having to put up with my mother and her disgusting fake boobs for a few days..Looking forward to more
shows soooooon!! :D
P.S. My son is worshiping the drumstick I had the roadie retrieve for me..

Thanks for the compliment, Turtle. I wish I could have hung around and chatted with you all but I was with my roommate and we had to get going. Next
time I will definitely make a point of kicking it with the .NET crew.
I really dug the new songs and the new addition to the band. I should really talk to the Bot's management about getting a press pass to the next
show so I can put some kind of video piece together.EvilMotivator - 3-28-2005 at 02:28 PM
Hey, does anyone know who the dude with the video camera was?RiffRaff - 3-28-2005 at 02:31 PM
Dunno, but he was fairly shameless with the pushy-shovey. I can't say I appreciated having an XL-1 lens 3 inches from my face for much of the
show.TurtleEnterprises - 3-28-2005 at 02:43 PM

Oh I hope not..There was a guy with a big ass camera though..I'm sure he caught it.. poobs - 3-29-2005 at 08:27 AM
Hey Turtle..Did you get a ticket? And the second guy was Rob Zabrecky of the band Possum Dixon..I just read it on the Spaceland site..I thought it was
the whole band, but it said just him..I don't know..I liked him..Except when he made eye contact with me for about 30 seconds and I didn't
know what to do..TurtleEnterprises - 3-29-2005 at 09:19 AM
That was pretty akward huh Poobs? I seen that I thought you guys were old friends or something? He loves you I think? When Alex had my hand I could
think of about a hundred things to do :P. I didn't get a ticket. I was so
relieved, I want to go to another show already im so greedy.TurtleEnterprises - 3-29-2005 at 09:20 AM
P.s I really liked Run Run Run, cute light show. I can't find any info anywhere online, any suggestions?poobs - 3-29-2005 at 09:51 AM
I was looking too..Maybe email the peeps at Spaceland and ask if they have any info?
Yeah..Seriously..That guy made me feel like such an ass..Cuz he was swinging his skinny hips back and forth with this crazy look in his eyes..I just
smiled..Kinda like this..:duh:TurtleEnterprises - 3-29-2005 at 09:55 AM
I wonder who that was filming and what they were filming for? I hope I come out. That would rock if you came out singing...Your lovely angelic voice.
hahahaEvilMotivator - 3-29-2005 at 12:57 PM
The singer from Run Run Run told me to find them on myspace, so I'm guessing they're on there. Oh, and Tom from myspace was at the show. I
thought that was pretty funny.TurtleEnterprises - 3-29-2005 at 03:14 PM
