New White Stripes

Evil - 5-1-2005 at 05:59 PM

Has anyone else heard "Blue Orchid"? I think I'm in love with them all over again. The first time I heard it, I didn't know it was them, and thought it was a girl singing. Oh, feminine Jack... I can't wait for the whole album.

seacaptain - 5-1-2005 at 06:02 PM

"Blue Orchid" sounds insane and I love it

It pumps me up

corkey16 - 5-1-2005 at 06:30 PM

Doesn't sound like them, but it's ok.

minimandy14 - 5-1-2005 at 07:01 PM

Its coo'. I like The White Stripes, so yea.

happysmilely - 5-1-2005 at 08:56 PM

OM Gosh
I'm behind. I have yet to hear it. I will go and get song asap. but right now I need sleep. :)

Evil - 5-1-2005 at 09:19 PM

OM Gosh is my new favorite saying.

TurtleEnterprises - 5-1-2005 at 09:33 PM

I don't like it that much. Yes Jack does sound like a girl. It's really different from their other stuff. I think for me it will just take some getting used to.

poobs - 5-1-2005 at 10:54 PM

I was starting to get over them, but this new song has renewed my faith..I'll still never pay to see them live again, but I'll be buying the new disc for sure..

Evil - 5-1-2005 at 11:03 PM

You didn't enjoy their live performance?

poobs - 5-1-2005 at 11:33 PM

Not at all..

draconian - 5-2-2005 at 08:41 AM

I also love the new single. Sounds like a harder rock edge, hope it carries through to the whole album.

Where were you during the show, Poobs?

Noisemonster - 5-3-2005 at 06:10 AM

haven't heard it yet - but soon they'll flood the dancefloors with it, i expect.

TurtleEnterprises - 5-3-2005 at 10:29 AM

I didnt like them live either, maybe it was the crowd. O'well either way I wouldnt see them live again either.

minimandy14 - 5-3-2005 at 06:50 PM

What kinda people where in the crowd?

Evil - 5-3-2005 at 09:55 PM

Well, if you're talking about in the second row, effing awesome people!!!! Actually, there were a few really dumb/old drunk guys too. They were lame.

poobs - 5-3-2005 at 10:37 PM

Well I got there a bit late, which sucked..Drac, Phobiac, and I were in the pit..Close to the center but to the right a little..About..4 rows back? 5? By the time the show finished I was probably in the 3rd row or so..

poobs - 5-3-2005 at 10:38 PM

Oh..And I had some lame ass kids in front of me trying to mosh during the White Stripes..I ended up punching one in the back of the head..:D

Evil - 5-3-2005 at 10:43 PM

Haha. Gotta love throwing the punches at shows. So I guess we were pretty close. Did you hear the whole neo-peace thing?

Your the reason people get kicked out of shows.:lol:

poobs - 5-4-2005 at 08:26 AM

I am? How is that?

corkey16 - 5-4-2005 at 09:21 AM

Simple..your mean.:)

corkey16 - 5-4-2005 at 09:39 AM

Is it just me or, well not saying any wrong, but doesn't Meg's drumming skills sound the same in every White Stripe's song. She doesn't seem to change it up alittle. It's the same beats.

Oh wow........ Haven't we all done that.

minimandy14 - 5-5-2005 at 02:28 PM

Actually I havn't punched anyone in my entire life (well I've slapped my sister a few times but that doesn't count). . . so again, your wrong :D

corkey16 - 5-5-2005 at 06:12 PM

Wow. No fights in your life. Passive?

[Edited on 6-5-2005 by corkey16]

minimandy14 - 5-5-2005 at 09:19 PM

No, I don't beleive in violence. I confront people when they need to be confronted but I will do everything I can to not physically fight a person, not because I am a wuss, but becuase I don't believe it solves anything.

corkey16 - 5-6-2005 at 09:07 AM

That's so true. I hate getting into fights. Alot of people think I love to fight like here with Poobs and all, but I hate it. I'm all about Peace, Love and Calmness. That's good your like that Mandy!

minimandy14 - 5-6-2005 at 07:11 PM

Yea well, just because I don't beleive in violence doesn't mean that I don't believe in confrontations.

corkey16 - 5-6-2005 at 07:12 PM

Oh, o.k. See what you mean.

minimandy14 - 5-6-2005 at 08:13 PM

And, like I said, That doesn't mean that I am a wuss and I am not going to fight anyone. If I have to, I will. So far that would be a negative. I just won't throw the first punch and I will do everything in my power to not have too.

Evil - 6-1-2005 at 02:40 PM

White Stripes at the Greek Theater in Berkeley on August 12!!

Weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

Evil - 6-1-2005 at 02:41 PM

Oh, and for anyone in LA who cares, they're playing the Greek Theater August 15, 16, 17, and 18. Lucky bitches.

corkey16 - 6-1-2005 at 05:54 PM

So. I'm seeing them on June 10 in Atlanta!:P

poobs - 6-1-2005 at 06:11 PM

I won't be seeing them on this tour..Their live show is shit..IMO..

corkey16 - 6-1-2005 at 06:13 PM

Really? :wow: I was looking forward to seeing them.:(

corkey16 - 6-8-2005 at 11:36 AM

Hey anyone got the new album? I heard it sucks.

Evil - 6-8-2005 at 11:54 AM

You heard VERY wrong. Sure it's a lot different from their old albums, but it in no way sucks.

corkey16 - 6-8-2005 at 12:00 PM

Oh ok. What are the best songs on the album?:duh: I'm asking cause i'm thinking about getting it.:D

seacaptain - 6-8-2005 at 12:31 PM

Yea it does not suck

With soem of the other Stripes cds, I only listen to them when I want to rock out. This new one, I feel like I'll listen to it more, it's got more dimension to it.

My favorites are "Blue Orchid" and "Red Rain" and "The Nurse" and "My Doorbell" right now

Evil - 6-8-2005 at 12:39 PM

My Doorbell and The Denial Twist.

JunoRedneck - 6-8-2005 at 12:39 PM

Everyone says My Doorbell rules. I want to hear it :( I guess I need to go and buy the album or something...

Evil - 6-8-2005 at 12:46 PM

Oh, and I also really like Forever For Her (Is Over For Me).

I love all the damn marimbas! I really need to start playing those again.

corkey16 - 6-8-2005 at 02:26 PM

I read in a review that The Doorbell sounded like a Jackson 5 song.

imarob2 - 6-14-2005 at 01:52 PM

i heard a great interview with jack and meg on npr the other day and i think the reason meg's drumming prolly sounds so similar is that she was never trained but jack liked her childlike approach to playing, or something like that. not that i dont like them... i want to pick it up even though i hear it isnt their best work, i like the bluegrass influences on some of the tracks.

seacaptain - 6-14-2005 at 02:58 PM

I like her drumming, everyone makes fun of it... but I find it really exciting. It works really well in the songs, and often rocks just as hard as the guitar riffs. Like the ending of "Blue Orchid," that's some cool drumming. Maybe it's not all fancy but it works.

Evil - 6-14-2005 at 07:52 PM

Straight up. I don't see why everyone says Jack should ditch her. It's obvious they both like the drumming like that, and it sounds kickass.

corkey16 - 6-14-2005 at 07:55 PM

I seen them Saturday. I thought they put on a good show. I love Meg's new look.

[Edited on 15-6-2005 by corkey16]

Plus look how lucky she is on this picture

:o I was at the same show, and I thought it was one of the BEST live performances that I've ever seen! Jack is a fucking guitar god...re-learned how to play guitar without his index finger (the one he hurt in the car accident)...pretty godly.

I love their stage presence and stage setup, their sound is massive for just being two people, and I already have my ticket for the next show. :D

poobs - 6-20-2005 at 06:33 AM

I thought it was kinda boring..:yes:

avw86 - 6-20-2005 at 04:48 PM

A million jagged daggers plummeting through my heart, Kendra.

:P

poobs - 6-20-2005 at 05:24 PM

:( Sorry..I LOVE their cds, though!! It just didn't translate well on stage for me..:( But whatever..That's just one more ticket available for the people that like their live show.. ;)

Evil - 6-21-2005 at 05:17 PM

I got my ticket last night.

JACK ATTACK

avw86 - 6-21-2005 at 05:23 PM

"so let's do it
just get on a plane and just do it
like the birds and the bees and get to it "

I'm listening to this right now :)

minimandy14 - 6-22-2005 at 02:52 PM

poobs - 6-22-2005 at 03:15 PM

No way! Look at how sneaky the one is that pushes the other one!! He just looks like he's chillin..You know..a belly full of fish..Waiting 30 minutes to slide into the water..And then BAM!! Sneaky sneaky..

minimandy14 - 6-22-2005 at 04:26 PM

Well, I'm not one to gossip, but I heard that Francis (the one being pushed) stole Jarod's (the one that pushes) lawnmower and took it on a joyride..As you know, Jarod is a gardener and really needed his lawnmower for work, so he lost a lot of wages while trying to replace the mower..His wife left him cuz she saw no money coming in and now she's dating Jarod's brother!! On top of all that, his severe case of back acne has returned and is spewing puss all over his back!! He traces all of his problems back to Francis..They're due in People's Court in a week or two..:duh:

corkey16 - 6-22-2005 at 06:31 PM

Damn. I need to tune it for that one.....What day does it air?

poobs - 6-22-2005 at 07:50 PM

It doesn't..You have to be "in" with the penguin crowd to get the real scoop..

minimandy14 - 6-22-2005 at 07:58 PM

an OBVIOUSLY you're not because then you would know that is is two tuesdays from now at 9 am. . .

Who said I wanted to be. You guys are weird, penquins on People's Court. It would have been funny if it was Animal Court or something. I was being sarcastic the first time anyway.

[Edited on 23-6-2005 by corkey16]

poobs - 6-23-2005 at 08:46 AM

Why did you even respond then? If you were being sarcastic, which I don't believe and really think you were trying to be funny, then why throw your bitchy little comment out there? I was responding to Mini..and Animal Court is just lame..

corkey16 - 6-23-2005 at 10:52 AM

Well, penquins are NOT people, well, maybe in your little world, but no. Me, bitchy? No, I leave that to the "Master of all bitchyness", you.:D

Evil - 6-23-2005 at 11:00 AM

Oh sweet! I just found out the White Stripes are playing two nights in a row in Berkeley! Yay! Now all I have to do is save up 50 more dollars. Good thing I get paid tomorrow.

corkey16 - 6-23-2005 at 11:03 AM

Cool!!!!:D They were pretty good when I seen them. They have a new guy touring with them too now. Heard a rumor that they might add him to the band.

Evil - 6-23-2005 at 11:07 AM

They won't.

corkey16 - 6-23-2005 at 11:08 AM

Hope not. He was pretty ugly. Didn't fix the band.:)

minimandy14 - 6-23-2005 at 11:22 AM

And its like all part of their image that its just the two of them. I was joking about the peguin thing, and just because their animals doesn't mean that they can't or shouldn't be treated like people.

corkey16 - 6-23-2005 at 11:24 AM

:) I knew you were joking Mandy. I was just playing around.:D Did you know that Penquins were rated #4 for the most smartest animals.

minimandy14 - 6-23-2005 at 11:26 AM

Yes, they are one of my favorite animals. They are among Elephants, Jellyfish, and Turtles. . . . . and yea if there are more I can't think of them right now. . . . .

corkey16 - 6-23-2005 at 11:31 AM

Oh I love elephants. Did you know that when one of there love ones or an elephant in one of there groups dieds, they actually cry and mourn there death. Plus when they go back to the place where they died, they remember and collect there bones. Weird but sweet. I seen it on Animal Channel and teared up.

minimandy14 - 6-23-2005 at 11:34 AM

Yea I know, they are so remarkable. Did you know that elephants are actually one of the quietest animals, Because they walk on their tip toes and what makes it look like they are walking flat on the ground is actually just a huge lump of fat pretty much, which muffles the sound making them quieter. . . . . .

corkey16 - 6-23-2005 at 11:37 AM

:wow: Baby elephants are soooo cute.

minimandy14 - 6-23-2005 at 11:38 AM

What makes them cute?

Evil - 6-23-2005 at 11:39 AM

They're small and look like elephants.

Evil - 6-23-2005 at 11:39 AM

I have neat elephant earrings.
