7cut - 6-14-2005 at 10:53 PM

I just heard on the radio that there have been heavy storm / tsunami warnings on the American West Coast and i got a little worried about you guys.....so everything alright down there????

:o

They were just being dramatic..Nothing's going to happen..I heard the earthquake was east of the major longitudinal plate, thus no plate shifting, so no real risk for tsunami..Thanks for the concern though..:D

poobs - 6-14-2005 at 11:03 PM

Oh..But my mom felt the earthquake the other day..Sunday I think it was..It was really small but she said she had to move a bunch of her stuff on the shelves cuz everything shifted a bit..I don't want to jinx CA, but I kinda miss earthquakes..I haven't felt one in so long..

7cut - 6-14-2005 at 11:10 PM

ooh, glad nothing happened. i figured they might be overdoing it --- as media usually does and esp. as it was on air only and not on tv.

My grand-aunt and uncle used to have a house in Florida for around 10 years and they´ve always been as lucky as to never be hit by a hurricane although it would happen QUITE often one was around.

my dad said there has been an earth quake in Germany a while ago...70s? dunno...anyway. but it was just a light one but to Europeans it feels heavy also for we´re simply not used to it.

we had a delovely thunder storm yesterday (i love `em, it feels so comfy when being in bed and you hear the rain and thunder outside) which left the sky in a beautiful mess of lilac and pink.

I know, I live right by the fault line and I haven't felt an earthquake in years. The 1989 one was my first memory as a kid though. It was hectic. It right fucked our house and smashed a good 50% of the things inside it. I guess that wasn't that cool.

corkey16 - 6-15-2005 at 08:40 AM

Any more landslides there?

Dude..That sucks..Where did you guys go during it? The doorway was a special place for us..We never had much damage in the earthquakes around us..Though there was the Whittier one that destroyed Old Town..I lived in Whittier, but luckily our house was solid..I just remember eating Cheerios before school and it started so my mom grabbed me and pushed me outside..My brother came out a few seconds later in just his towel..

JunoRedneck - 6-15-2005 at 09:55 AM

I was little, so my mom ran me outside and gave me to a neighbor then ran back to find my brother who was about 8 or so. Apparently, he was gonna stay in the doorway upstairs but once all the furniture and this wood and glass entertainment center (complete with tv, a stereo, and a bunch of records) came crashing down in the floor he freaked out and ran downstairs. My mom said she could see him being slammed from wall to wall trying to run down the stairs. She said it looked like a pinball machine  He wasn't hurt or anything. But it was pretty hectic.
It hit Santa Cruz pretty hard I guess, because they had to rebuild most of downtown and a lot of the houses got pretty jacked. But luckily there are less big buildings and overpasses so less people got hurt. I think only a couple people died.

poobs - 6-15-2005 at 10:19 AM

Holy crap! That sounds scary!! :o My friend living in San Fran when that big one hit..The one that destroyed the Bay Bridge..That was fucking scary..That wasn't the same one, was it?

JunoRedneck - 6-15-2005 at 10:38 AM

I don't know. I remember that freeway, in I think Oakland, collapsed and killed some people. That's pretty freaky.

poobs - 6-15-2005 at 11:00 AM

Was it the Bay Bridge that had footage of cars literally driving off into nothing right after it collapsed? I should look for it..But I must find out if Di is really Dixie and if JR will come to accept that his mom is really alive!!

If I were to shorten my name from Dixie to something, I would choose Dix. It sounds funnier.

poobs - 6-15-2005 at 01:11 PM

Hehe..You said dix..:duh: I'd shorten it to D..

"Yo..What up D?"

Earthquakes are exciting. My sister dropped my brother on his head during one. That story always makes me laugh.

JunoRedneck - 6-15-2005 at 04:14 PM

Especially with Dyler and I as your fly girls. That's how Jennifer Lopez got her start. I'm pretty sure Dyler is gonna be the next J.Lo. He'll be D. Plum or something along those lines.

Evil - 6-15-2005 at 04:15 PM

It's not even funny. If we're around, your world is sunny.

my sister´s been in Thailand around Easter time and there were tsunami warnings also and know what the Thais did? they got up at nite and climbed on a hill for safety and left the tourists in their huts sleeping. but nothing happened in the end.
