I thought that I really liked my old landlords, but I just got a letter from them detailing all of the stuff they "have" to do to the place
now that we're gone and they said it will probably exceed the deposit amount..They listed shit like "Replacement ice cube trays"..I
guess we took theirs accidentally.."Remove decal from porcelain"..It's a little duck decal that is MEANT to go on bathroom tiles! It
will take 1 second to take it off!! "Replace light fixture glass"..That wasn't ever there to begin with!! Then they talk about just
basic cleaning shit, like cleaning the window sills and stuff..I DID all that before I left!! So they're going to charge us over $800 to bring a
fucking maid in and to patch up a few nail holes..And some of the shit they listed is basic management shit that THEY were in charge of!!!
Ugh..I'm so pissed..I don't think I like them anymore..

While I don't know about California law specifically, a landlord in Massachusetts is not allowed to charge the ex-tenant for basic cleaning
things. That's the landlord's JOB, and they shouldn't be doing that to you.

That's what I was thinking!! I mean, I totally cleaned, but I wasn't stressing some of it that much because they ALWAYS bring in a cleaning
crew after anyways..Was I supposed to leave it cleaner than when I moved in?? They even mentioned cleaning the closet under the stairs..We never did
anything to it! We had our vacuum cleaner in there for a bit, but that was all..I don't see what they have to do to it..
I'm just so annoyed because I respected their house..I left it way
cleaner than I've ever left any other place..And it's like they're nit-picking at shit that wasn't even my fault..
