Flaming Lips - At War With The Mystics, but that's not until next January..Evil - 8-30-2005 at 09:33 PM
The Raconteurs: Jack White, Brendan Benson, Jack Lawrence, and Patrick Keeler (the latter two the bassist and drummer of the Greenhornes). I'm
very excited, but also a little scared. I hope it turns out wonderfully.draconian - 8-31-2005 at 06:29 AM
Is that out yet, Evil? Sounds interesting.
(I have $30 for iTunes so am in a sampling mood)Evil - 8-31-2005 at 10:52 AM
Nope, not out yet. I'm not even sure if it's written/recorded yet.minimandy14 - 8-31-2005 at 12:39 PM
Umm Franz Ferdinand and Mindless Self Indulgence (it's out but I don't own that one yet!) . . and umm System of a Down. . . .corkey16 - 8-31-2005 at 02:44 PM
Goldfrapp came out yesterday. Mindless Seld Indulgence rock!minimandy14 - 8-31-2005 at 04:21 PM
Dude yes they do! OH OH and Avenged Sevenfold's new album too!draconian - 9-1-2005 at 07:51 AM
Kanye West's new one is really good. Gold Digger one of my favorite songs this year.seacaptain - 9-1-2005 at 08:39 AM
Not really new, but Bob Dylan's new Bootleg Series has some incredible outtakes on it
Otherwise, I"m just waiting patiently for the Iron & Wine/Calexico EP
And the new Kate Bush! Woodraconian - 9-1-2005 at 09:45 AM
Speaking of Calexico, that reminded me to get their version of "Alone Again Or" from iTunes. I love it--someone could do an album comprised
only of covers of that song and I would buy it.minimandy14 - 9-1-2005 at 02:09 PM
Hmm one of the ONLY cover songs that I've EVER really absolutly liked is the cover of 99 red balloons by Goldfinger. . . That is so kickass. . .
.corkey16 - 9-1-2005 at 04:37 PM
I can't wait for the new Distured album!!!!seacaptain - 9-1-2005 at 04:55 PM
Had I mentioned that Calexico cover to you before? It's easily one of my favorite songs too, and their version may be the best.draconian - 9-1-2005 at 05:56 PM
Nope, heard it on some local station, it's also a favorite song of mine. Have you heard any other covers?
Off-topic, but if anyone's looking for a great read, Paul Feig's Superstud is hilarious. About his sad adolescence in the 80's,
essentially. He's one of the creators of Freaks and Geeks, and the character of Sam from that show was based on him.draconian - 9-1-2005 at 05:58 PM
Not new, but I also dl'd George Michael's Freedom 90 for my running mix from iTunes...ahhh....so unappreciated, so smarmy...minimandy14 - 9-1-2005 at 06:30 PM
smarmy? Is that good or bad?seacaptain - 9-1-2005 at 06:41 PM
If you know Drac, you know that's good.
I only asked because I went through a period where I was obsessed with Calexico's version. Besides Love and Calexico, the only other version I know is The Boo Radleys' which was pretty neat too.Noisemonster - 9-2-2005 at 02:22 AM
hmmm.. i bought a lot of cd's in london.. mostly special offers that i finally wanted to have as originals.. plus xlover and clor, but the clor
album was not as good as i expected. i still love the single.7cut - 9-2-2005 at 09:35 AM

The new Against Me! album is out today. If you like folk/country punk then you will like AM!.rockinfingers23 - 9-8-2005 at 10:47 PM
Since you mentioned the Dandy Warhols did any of you see the movie DIG?seacaptain - 9-13-2005 at 05:35 PM
The Calexico / Iron & Wine EP is great, just came out today... I love I&W, and I love how all his recordings have a different sound, but
it's still him. Calexico's horns and energy are a great touch to his songs.
I wish I could see one of their shows together. I wonder if they'll play "Alone Again Or," I could hear I&W singing it...
"Alone Again Or"
Yea said it's alright, I won't forget
All the times I waited patiently for you
And you'll do just what you used to do
And I will be alone again tonight, my dear
Girl, I heard a funny thing somebody said to me
"You know that I could be in love with almost everyone.
And I think that people are the greatest fun."
And I will be alone again tonight, my dearminimandy14 - 9-13-2005 at 06:10 PM

Their cd isn't very new, but I've been listening to World Leader Pretend a lot lately. Pretty laid back myoozak.. It's more or less
perfect to fall asleep to.
..plus, the guitarist knows me as Jesus.minimandy14 - 11-10-2005 at 01:22 PM
There are several people that know me as jesus, it's pretty cool. . . .draconian - 12-18-2005 at 02:02 PM

I am FINALLY going to buy The Greenhornes EP today, will report back.Evil - 12-18-2005 at 10:26 PM
i got it shortly after seeing them, but it didn't grab my attention. i haven't listened to it much since then.
i have just received news the raconteurs cd is complete and should be released in may with a tour following. this excites me greatly.draconian - 12-19-2005 at 05:39 PM
In a stroke of good luck, I bought the LP and it is awesome. This after listening to the EP tracks in the record store and being really unimpressed.
As the LP tracks were not available for previewing, it was a total leap of faith. Bought it based on the recommendation here and a great review I
read somewhere. The LP is very very good, with a nice variety of songs...all the EP songs were kinda sleepy and boring.
