New EP

draconian - 4-5-2006 at 10:59 AM

This is so fantastic.

My favorite track is, easily, "Good Girl."

The liner notes are QUITE entertaining. Certainly, there is a lot of not even subtext, it's outright criticism, of their being on a major label and relatively illiquid re: being able to release songs whenever they want.

Tracklist:

Search and Destroy
Tumbling Down
Sing Boy
Good Girl
Hello I Love You
Ima Alien
Paint The Town Red
Two Hearts Too Young
Time Is The Cure

Apparently, on the self-titled album the band was forced to use a different version of the song Alive than they wanted to. Basically the label "suggested" they modify the song somehow, which is to say they would have dropped the band and not promoted the album if the band hadn't followed the label's "advice." Kind of sad, but definitely a testament to how damn good the band is that they still sounded amazing, even after the label's tinkering.

I'm really curious about the new tunes -- I've hardly even listened to the songs on MySpace, so I don't know what to expect.

Evil - 4-5-2006 at 05:57 PM

idreamptofUmbrella - 4-5-2006 at 05:59 PM

Can't wait to hear it. Could someone be so kind as to scan the artwork?

corkey16 - 4-5-2006 at 07:17 PM

Is it in stores now?

Evil - 4-5-2006 at 07:25 PM

Are "Hello i love you" and "search and
destroy" covers? And what does the EP look like - can you scan it?

and if they are not happy with Virgin, why donīt they just go some place else? iīm sure lots of indie labels would be interested....contract-bound? will they
soon write "IMA Slave" across their cheeks?

EN - 4-6-2006 at 05:11 PM

Would someone who has all the songs off the EP on their computer be kind enough to send them to me on aim or via email or something? Needless to say I'd be in a state of infatuation with them for life.

corkey16 - 4-6-2006 at 05:12 PM

Send one to me too, please. I'm willing to pay.:):saint:

batcave_baby - 4-6-2006 at 05:37 PM

My favorite track is undoubtedly Hello I Love You. I think we played that song 8 times on the drive home. How can one resist such lyrics as "if you were a sweater I'd wear you on my head, why is butter so good on bread...it's you-ohhh-hoo"?

Paint the Town Read and Two Hearts Too Young are awesome as well.

I've heard an alternate version of Alive and it's really great. I'm also glad to have the album version because I think they compliment each other nicely and you can compare to speculate on why virgin didn't want the original released, although I can't seem to find a reason.

Expect great things.

RiffRaff - 4-6-2006 at 05:53 PM

I seriously need the EP hookups. All this talk is giving me EP envy something fierce.

I love how he pronounces "butter" - "buttah on bread"

such classic Alex lyrics

draconian - 4-7-2006 at 08:45 AM

And I have to mention the medieval theme strung through one of the songs. Plus the recurring theremin in another...so nicely weird.

idreamptofUmbrella - 4-10-2006 at 11:34 AM

My ep came today! Thanks Drac, I'll love you forever.

idreamptofUmbrella - 4-10-2006 at 11:38 AM

After a few listens Good Girl and Hello I Love You are definitely my favorites. The whole thing is an instant classic as far as I'm concerned.

This EP is full of growers.

Time Is The Cure is rapidly moving up on my favorites list. The chorus is so inspiring. The "We're gonna win" line fits this song so well.

And I like the drum machine track in Paint The Town Red--it sounds like almost the same one used in I'm Your Bitch, I think. Plus the little french horn undercurrent in that song is so unexpected.

The way Alex yelps "You better go now" in Sing Boy is reminiscent of one of the old demos...I can't put my finger on it quite, does it remind anyone of Jesus Candles or something?

One of the tracks always makes me think of New Order's Age Of Consent.

I hope they release more of the songs they apparently are holding on to. This is too good.

SweetAdeline - 4-16-2006 at 06:51 PM

Awesome! Thanks for the info.

beedun - 4-19-2006 at 05:13 AM

From Ima Robots myspace bulletin:

new song "PAINT THE TOWN RED" up that you can ONLY hear here OR on the L.A-ONLY! EP that we made thanks to PrinceHouse Records...1000 copies only of that record!!!

Sounds like the EP is for LA only? Do we ahve a confirmation that they will be selling this to everyone else? I have a copy of all the songs but I would really like to purchase an authentic one & support them.

imanodoubtaholic - 4-20-2006 at 10:48 PM

me too. :/

blogbourri - 4-21-2006 at 10:58 AM

I wonder how many they've sold already. I didn't even realize it was limited to just 1000 copies at first....

-Devin.

I think I spoke too soon.
When she said itunes she meant that it recognized the songs when she inserted her cd.
I'm guessing ebay will be the only place to get it before too long.

greeneburl217 - 4-30-2006 at 08:35 PM

Hey how did you guys get all the songs from the new EP? I only heard a few.

RiffRaff - 5-1-2006 at 02:14 AM

The EP is only for those who have moisturized their situation and preserved their sexy.

Paradigm - 5-20-2006 at 10:08 PM

Is someone willing to send me the tracks? I'll give you a hug or something crappy like that.

Paradigmsoldier@hotmail.com

I know I'm new to the forum, but I've been listening to Ima Robot for at least two years now, I bought the s/t cd, but I need a dose of sexy.
