Hmmmph, which console?

JPG - 1-11-2009 at 10:30 AM

So i have been researching myself for quite some time about what video game console to get.

I am taking the PS3 out of consideration due to the price. unless i find some kind of deal for one. For the record, this to me is the most impressive console. Just doesnt have the impressive games (I dont know? prove me wrong about the games? skg?)

Xbox 360, i cant stand how unreliable these are, xbox live rocks and its just got more good games (make me feel better about the xbox? do cooling kits work?)

Wii, cheapest of the 3 and I cant say no to Mario. There are a handful of games that I enjoy that are Wii exclusive. Though i can not stand controls on games like Call of Duty.

I currently am searching for cheap used systems online, i have considered buying a console only... im really just trying to stall my impuse buying by thinking and thinking about it until i find a great deal.

Any thoughts?

uh.
360's are awesome.
i got one for christmas. and they are unreliable.
all of my friend's 360s always get red-rings of death.
but i think cooling kits do work.

i dont know too much about ps3's
or wiis
but 360 has all of the best games.
HALO
CALL OF DUTY
LEFT 4 DEAD
GUITAR HERO
ROCK BAND
!!!!!!!

Sadly, I have all three.

Wii is more of the social, let's play some games while we drink platform. A couple key titles, but most aren't up to the PS3 or Xbox360 gaming level. Wii is the easiest to hack if you are interested in that. Always gets played during our social gatherings. Everyone always enjoys it...young and old alike.

Xbox360, by far the best selection and quality of games. I'm a little more stoked now that it supports streaming Netflix and with Connect360 on my Mac the Xbox360 can stream most of my media off my MacBook Pro onto the 360. The Video Market place is pretty cool, saves a trip to Blockbusters...sometimes. The new Xbox experience is a little more Wii-like with respect to avatar creation, etc. Hackable, but you have to be a little bit more motivated than hacking the Wii.

PS3, the only reason I kept it was for the Blu-ray and 1080p support. If Xbox360 was blu-ray and 1080p I don't think I would have the PS3 still. Just not enough titles and I never had a PSP...so...hmm...

Invest your money in a kick ass PC instead!

each system has their faults. but i will say this. i would never buy a wii. my parents got one for the family. i never touch the damn thing. it's fun for like a month but blah. whenever i open the monthly issue of game informer over half the games for the wii have less than a 5 out of 10. it's pitiful.

the xbox is fun. but they are really unreliable. my bro has one and it hasn't broke yet. i read that the cooling things don't help but they actually hurt the system. i dunno though.

the PS3 is fairly easy to hack. mine is hacked and has ubuntu 7.1 on it. took awhile but i got it on there with some help. as for the games, the PS3 has a few great games. and the store is packed full of PS3 exclusives. i've been downloading alot lately. it's great. another good thing about the ps3 is the online is free unlike xbox's xbox live. the ps3 costs more but it is definitly worth it to me. the graphics are better. and when you call customer service they don't send your call to someone in india! it's great.

get a ps3

I like the rubber ducky game on the PS3. I like that you can see the game replay of the other gamers high scores!

Go Linux!

The grafix on the xbox are way better,,,on full 1080p or 1080I...I've had mine since day 1 and it works the same,,,ps3 suck it!

poobs - 1-14-2009 at 06:30 AM

Yeah..My brother has the XBox 360 and it's pretty sweet..We've always been a Nintendo family so I thought he was a traitor, but it just has more games for him than the Wii..I feel like the Wii is almost more of a family console..But holy shit, it's so much fun!

neckbeard - 1-14-2009 at 09:53 AM

nintendo is frickin awesome.
but the 360 is really frickin cool.

the wii doesn't have very many games for the "hardcore gamer". other than a few titles, wii games consist of family games that contain a bunch of mini games involving using the wii remote. the wii is like communism, it was a good idea on paper, but then when it actually happened... yea.

Delta - 1-29-2009 at 11:53 AM

I love communism!

The wii would be amazing if it could play n64 games.

Sarbear - 1-31-2009 at 06:07 AM

We just hook my N64 up to my big screen. I dont have an xbox or wii Ive just got a Ps2, Super Nintenao, and the N64.

poobs - 1-31-2009 at 10:14 AM

You can buy points and download tons of old school Nintendo games..We downloaded Ice Breaker from the NES and one of the Kirby games from one of the other Nintendo systems..It's so much fun to play the games without having to deal with blowing on the games or getting that annoying green screen when trying to use the NES!

corkey16 - 1-31-2009 at 04:12 PM
