nurzetrev - 3-21-2004 at 07:21 PM

yeah, perty cool, I just got through a couple hours of doing Yoshimi with and without the visuals on this new 5.1 dvd/cd, ...it's amazing, but that christmas
on mars looks REALLY REALLY rediculous. Hey trip on out there Oklahoma!

nurzetrev - 3-21-2004 at 07:25 PM

ok so I'm watching the 'making of Yoshimi Dvd' ...and the part where Wayne is dancing around with the LEd zepplin jamming with stevie wonder song...
it's like how Frank Black put's it... "Monkey GOne to HeavEn?"

poobs - 3-21-2004 at 08:03 PM

I love Wayne..

happysmilely - 3-23-2004 at 03:10 PM

poobs - 3-23-2004 at 03:11 PM

happysmilely - 3-23-2004 at 03:17 PM

I hate to say it but I agree, maybe it's all the fun happy things that always seem to be around him. Like Bunnies, how can you not love the bunnies  ha ha bunnies

poobs - 3-23-2004 at 03:25 PM

He just seems so happy to be doing what he's doing..Just a lot of positive energy oozes out of him..I love it..Going to their shows is such an uplifting experience..Ahh..I miss them..:(

happysmilely - 3-23-2004 at 03:38 PM

Yes, yes I agree once again. We can miss them together. But you'll be seeing them soon won't you? Coachella? lucky duck

poobs - 3-23-2004 at 04:11 PM

I don't know if I'm going!! I just don't know if I'm up for it! I've gone every single year so far, but I'm just burnt out on it..:(

happysmilely - 3-23-2004 at 04:36 PM

Oh yes I know. I really wanted to go but have decided to opt out as well. if you don't get to we really can miss them together, LOL

poobs - 3-23-2004 at 04:38 PM

:lol: Aww..How sweet..:( :lol::lol::lol::lol:

Honestly, I don't know how their show will come off in an outdoor venue like Coachella..They HAVE to go on at night..If they don't, they're going to lose a lot of the awesome parts to the show!!

happysmilely - 3-23-2004 at 05:01 PM

yeah yeah, thats right, i never even thought to the day light factor. good point chap. Now maybe I won't feel so bad missing the show.......................... nope still feel bad, lol

poobs - 3-23-2004 at 05:08 PM

:( Damn..Yeah..I'm still so undecided! I want to see them so bad..Among a lot of other bands..But, shoot..It's so hot..:(

happysmilely - 3-23-2004 at 06:30 PM

yes yes i know, *pats poobs back*
oh my what a line up

RADIOHEAD!
THE PIXIES
BRMC
The Cure
Cursive
Death Cab for Cutie
Flaming Lips
Junior Senior
Moving Units ........... (oh my)

I still don't see why i decided not to go, but i did. It's a lot of $ and travle costs add more for me. I think that was my main factor.

poobs - 3-23-2004 at 06:36 PM

I know! Shit..I forgot about Junior Senior! And Moving Units..Curses! There's still time to decide..My friend already has a hotel room, so I always have a place to stay..It's just. so. hot. And you get. so. tired.:o:(

lurker - 3-23-2004 at 06:50 PM

dang- i didn't know Moving Units were emerging so fast, they're still pretty obsure...

happysmilely - 3-23-2004 at 07:17 PM

I know, I have seen the Moving Units move up very fast very recently.

*pats poobs on back again* :)

lurker - 3-23-2004 at 07:20 PM

have you heard of The Faint?
electro/synth/noise rock

the Faint

[Edited on 24-3-2004 by lurker]

happysmilely - 3-23-2004 at 08:32 PM

Yes, I have heard OF the faint because a friend recommend them to me, but I have not heard anything by them or looked into them at all. I'm clueless about them. With 2 recommendations I must try harder now, thank you lurker

[Edited on 24-3-2004 by happysmilely]

poobs - 3-24-2004 at 09:56 AM

I saw Moving Units when they opened for Blur a little while ago..I had never heard of them but I dug them right away..:D

*accepts the pats on the back* *burp*

happysmilely - 3-24-2004 at 11:47 AM

Another band recommend the moving units to me, around over a year ago I believe it hasn't been that long, but they have grown so fast.

*well at least my pats did some good*

poobs - 3-24-2004 at 04:17 PM

*burp* Yes. But *burp* I *burp* can't stop *burp* *burp* burping!! *burp*

The word burp is starting to look funny..:lol:

RoboticTerrorSTD - 3-24-2004 at 05:08 PM

ah! FAINT is good stuffing. Very fresh and interesting.
thanks again lurker!
you have brightened my day once again!
any more reconditions???

nurzetrev - 3-28-2004 at 10:30 PM

don't make me faint...hey have you heard of a band called
Ima Flaming Robot...farking great, and they smoke pot onstage!
wearing diapers...with real leopards laying onstage...
they release butterflies towards the audience and spray cocoanut
paradise air freshner on themselves...and you can really smell
it too...they're gonna be bigger than the grateful dead!:lol::lol:

They'll get you higher than jesus and Liberace!

[Edited on 29-3-2004 by nurzetrev]

MichelleRene - 3-29-2004 at 08:30 AM

Cocoanut Spray! I guess it's to cover up the spleef smell.....(?)

Imaveedub - 3-30-2004 at 12:51 AM

coconut spray.........

nurzetrev - 3-30-2004 at 01:49 AM

...well, man I really want to see the Flaming Lips this year on their Yoshimi trip,
but a desert full of hot monkeys is not the environ I thrive in either. I mean tickets to see just AIR (in D.C) are 35 smacks alone, but all these rabid Cure and Radiohead freaks are gonna flood that and that alone is reason to stay home
and kiss kiss kiss the Air Conditioning unit while listening to 'are you a hypnotist?' over and over and did I say over...yeah over again.

can I have my cherry blossom girl ice cream now?

nurzetrev - 3-30-2004 at 01:53 AM

...yeah, I know, but I got that reference from this age old 'industrial duo' from L.A., Babyland, whose 'singer/keyboard programmer' is awkwardly gay...you know bald, freaky...but I saw a show at spaceland where he unloaded a whole aerosol of cocoanut spray on himself and the audience and it...kinda worked in a weird 'homo kinda way. They were pounding it out and the whole room resonated cocoanut! Beautifully weird...have I told you about Baltimore?

MichelleRene - 3-30-2004 at 05:37 AM

No...what about Baltimore......?

What kind of mayhem did you get into while you were up here last week? Were there some strange ones at the SideBar? Yah, you never did give us all the details Trevor...hmmmmm....... Do tell.....

nurzetrev - 3-30-2004 at 11:03 PM

ohhhh, I wouldn't call it mayhem, just a curious night out on the town...

nurzetrev - 3-30-2004 at 11:10 PM

I seriously can't let a day or so go by, I mean I just got it a few weeks ago, but this Yoshimi cd/dvd, with visuals is really addictive...and I can't even stare at it, but when I do, I can't turn my head away...it really is hypnotic...
I got a copy for 20. Worthwhile, and has videos for some songs and the song
"Phoebe battles the pink robots", sung to Phoebe (friends)...I hear they were trying to get the shows attention...but that show's pretty much over...no time to pay the Flaming Lips to come on and take over the show...hmm, that's not such a bad i...yeah it is. See the trailer for "christmas on mars" and you'll know why. Earth to Oklahoma! :wow::rolleyes:

poobs - 3-30-2004 at 11:33 PM

It's freaking awesome..I can't wait to see that movie! I have the DVD but I haven't watched all of the stuff..I love them though..yes..I do..:duh:

MichelleRene - 3-31-2004 at 04:56 AM

or wait...you ended up at the new "Hustler" strip club on the Block! Trevor....anything good down there?:o

poobs - 3-31-2004 at 08:07 AM

Ew..:lol::lol:

MichelleRene - 3-31-2004 at 10:51 AM

this video is like ...Chorizo Robotica...
it's cool, the visuals are suppsed to be Robots
flashing lights I presume and I times I want to turn the monitor on its side to see it ...you know
verical because there are six glow/flash blobs that
move in time to the music, but if you turn it
on it's side (or yr head) ...it looks like a robot/ a silhouette of the Michelin man...kinda ravey, very Japanese...totally trippy...the cd is smooth,
and again I love 'are you a hypnotist'...the actual
'band/video is VERY TRIPPY flash photography and
the song is exellent. The bassline to 'One more Robot' sets me off kinda in a more ...casual way like ...gawd I wanna say Sadé's Love Deluxe...does that make sense...man I haven't listened to that in like eons :wow:, but the point is it's georgeous music...
ok, people chili photos have been sent to Phobiac...will be up soon, HIGHlarious!

poobs - 4-5-2004 at 08:44 AM

yeah..The DVD is sweet..Are you going to Coachella, Trevor? I've decided not to go this year..I'm really bummed about missing the Lips, but I'd rather see them in a club-style place anyways..Oi..I have a feeling my decision is going to bite me in the ass..:(

happysmilely - 4-5-2004 at 09:24 AM

myabe, but hey at least you have restriction.
I almost went. going back and fourth the whole time.
Was a good line up

mmmm..... falming lips ;)

poobs - 4-5-2004 at 09:33 AM

It is a good line-up, but just not as exciting for me as it has been in the past..There's rumors going around that Beck will perform..There were also rumors that Radiohead was going to perform last year and it turned out to be Perry Ferrell..Not that I minded, but you see how rumors can turn out..:duh:

happysmilely - 4-5-2004 at 09:45 AM

oh yeah,
I wish I had the $
I would go in a second.
I don't know how you do it!

poobs - 4-5-2004 at 09:52 AM

Eh..I've been every year so far..Last year was brutal..Both days there..The heat..The crowds (who are getting worse and worse..the first year was so awesome..really cool people..not as much anymore..)..The dirt..I'm just not into it..Maybe next year..Dont' get me wrong, I seem fine with it on the outside, but inside I'm a little bummed..I'll get over it..

happysmilely - 4-5-2004 at 09:57 AM

 yeah
maybe thats why your not going now.

I hate the sun, it burns (i'm like so goth)

poobs - 4-5-2004 at 10:03 AM

I got SO burned last year!! But it turned into a nice little tan, so I was ok with it..I don't like the heat, but I love laying out in the sun..Ahh..Especially if there's a cool breeze flowing..Nothing like it..

happysmilely - 4-5-2004 at 10:09 AM

 I'm super pail
I can't stand the sun
"it burns, it burns"

poobs - 4-5-2004 at 10:13 AM

:o I always feel like I look better with a slight tan on my face..It's probably all in my head, but whatever..It makes me happy..:(:lol:

Imaveedub - 4-5-2004 at 11:26 AM

:o

happysmilely - 4-5-2004 at 11:37 AM

yeah, I always kinda wanted a tan
But man, I swear, it's impossible for me

poobs - 4-5-2004 at 12:09 PM

:lol::lol: Poor happy..:lol::lol:

MichelleRene - 4-5-2004 at 12:59 PM

I use to be tan....somewhat....now I'm pale again.......I don't want to get skin cancer......scarey! I'm gonna look like Casper soon.:(

Neuwave - 4-5-2004 at 04:24 PM

Michelle is that you in the devil outfit?:o

poobs - 4-5-2004 at 05:10 PM

It isn't...But it could be..Michelle's a hot chicka!! :D

happysmilely - 4-5-2004 at 10:44 PM

very close to Michelle's looks but no, not her. you should post yourself up Michelle
sorry all, I'm so pail I envy Michael Jackson's tan (but only his tan) :o

nurzetrev - 4-6-2004 at 12:01 AM

all those pale cure fans are gonna die of exhaustion and get sunburned...it's gonna look like amsterdam out there...word, poobs, I wanna see this band in a small club, more than 500 people and I don't really feel too cool, but
you know what's wrong with a little company...?

They are going to die!! Everyone is going to be in black..:lol::lol::lol:

I heard that the Lips are going to be changing their show, too..That's why they weren't going to do Coachella..They feel like their fans have already seen the costumes, the glitter, the flashlights, the blood on the head..Hopefully they'll change it fast and get back on the road to headline!!

happysmilely - 4-6-2004 at 10:48 AM

 good point, sucks to be goth I guess

yeah, hope to see the LIPS soon!
i happen to like all the costumes :)

MichelleRene - 4-6-2004 at 10:51 AM

I like costumes........:D

poobs - 4-6-2004 at 10:52 AM

Oh I LOVE the costumes..I love everything about their show, but I guess they think people are going to get tired of it..I saw them when they toured with Beck 3 times and then when they headlined their own show..Out of all the concerts I've gone to, I've never felt as completely happy as I have when I see them..Their show is awesome live..Ahh..I want to see them again so bad!!! :ticking:

happysmilely - 4-6-2004 at 10:57 AM

yeah, I guess I could see how it could get boring.
but thats why you get new costumes
I mean we have an endless amount of props and so on.
oh well, i still want to see them :)
costumes or not

WinnebagoWarrior - 4-6-2004 at 09:50 PM

man!...holy sheite...I heard a BeeGee's song on the oldies station tonight...like 'crazy nights' or 'crazy disco nights' that sounds soooo much
like something that's on Yoshimi it's uncanny...I wonder if they got a little influence from the ol' BGee's?...I wouldn't put it past 'em...

poobs - 4-8-2004 at 08:21 AM

I think they're inspired by anything from Mozart to paper towels..

poobs - 4-8-2004 at 08:22 AM

ewww! I'd definitely keep my blinds closed after that one Poobs! I have a bay window that I've covered completely across with thick velvet curtains.....they can either be open or closed.....I like my privacy, especially when the little kids a few doors down like to come up to my door and see my 2 dogs...it's like Uh-Oh! Like right after you've caught a buzz...and then their Mom comes up and talks your ear off......my neighbors are really nice...both older couples...like our parents age.
