New Jane's Addiction

I am way enthused that it's out (finally), and really love most of the songs, but I still wonder if it was their best effort. In the DVD that came with it, I think there's some mention that they wanted to do something different than they had previously done. Ordinarily, I would be all for that sentiment, but Jane's is so legendary and has such a classic sound--I just wish they would do the same thing over again, but better, instead of trying to reinvent the wheel.

Does anyone else have this album? Does anyone get what I'm saying?

I've only heard the whole CD once, and all I could think was how they managed to evolve, and still sustain that classic Janes sound. My initial thought was mission accomplished. Everybody's Friend has blown me away. So I guess what I'm saying is, " Drac...nah I don't know what you saying."

I guess my expectations were unreasonably high for the record. It was my Chinese Democracy in a lot of ways.

I thought about getting this at Amoeba today, but didn't. I'm not sure here if you're recommending it or what?

What did you and Kyle end up getting today? I took a Smiths cd, a Jim O'Rourke one, and of course IMA ROBOT! Finally. I also thought about ripping the Bot poster off the counter but it was too crowded. :saint:

Oh I would have Strays in my collection even if it sucked. I still recommend it, but personally, only four or five tracks really do it for me. I may rip them and put them on another CD with some other gems.

Now that I'm home, I'm kicking myself remembering the CDs I wanted to get. But the ones I did find were two Sparks albums, dirt cheap as one was missing a case and one had flawed design, and South, and an old Radio 4 album.

Isn't that store terrific? We got a photo of the marquee with Ima Robot outside - will get that up on the site later.

And everyone else, the Ima Robot EP is on sale for $2.98! That's less than a buck a song!

Did you happen to stumble by Amoeba's 80's 12" inch remix section? I really shouldn't be revealing this section, because when I saw it, I promised myself I was gonna buy the whole section when I got a chance, but Sparks rock, the new promo for Magic Mountain( or was it Knott's?) kinda brought them back in the spotlight(for me).

Cool, Cool, Cool, places... My fav is Angst In My Pants from Valley Girl.

By the way check this out:

Wow--cool website. I didn't expect it to be so modern, for some reason. I am very pleased with my purchases, esp. the Sparks CD, "Balls." The opening track!
