Great review of Public Access--I especially like the description of the songs being hits from the 80s that were never recorded:

"IMA ROBOT - PUBLIC ACCESS
cd review by night watchman

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Ima Robot swoops out of the fog of the early 1980s-- a memory of the past, playing videos of the future on Betamax. Parts of Public Image Ltd., Enon, The Cars, and Prick swirl together like buses crashing in the darkness of a place with no time. They meet for cups of coffee at roadside diners that haven't changed in decades. They clash and careen into one another, pushing each other closer to the edge of modern rock, only to shove back the other way, drowning in nostalgia and retro waterfalls.

The songs are hits from the synth-pop era that were never recorded-- lost deep in the womb to be reborn in the brains of Tim Anderson, Alex Ebert, Oliver Goldstein, Justin Meldal-Johnson, and Joey Waronker. I dig this band,.. a lot. Their very new retro is along the lines of Hot Hot Heat. The only way they could have gotten a better review is if they would have sent a full-length disc instead of a four-song sampler. But their strategy worked well; I'll be first in line to pick up the full-length when it comes out on September 16th. You should be there, too. "
