Here's the preview from
Slim's SF of the March 12 Ima Robot show. Wish I could make this one, especially reading that The Automator's side project is opening!
IMA ROBOT (3/12) - Cut from the same cloth as Ziggy-era Bowie, Ima Robot's glam-colored new wave is supported by well-crafted songs, with hints
of darkness in the lyrics. The band's debut compares favorably to the keyboard-heavy, punk-inspired but still pop-songwriting bands like Hot Hot
Heat, The Faint and Interpol. Their choppy blasts of guitars and keyboards announce Ima Robot as both retro and futuristic. There's nothing
artificial about this kind of pop intelligence. Sharing the bill this evening is Head Automatica, the new project featuring Dan the Automator and
Daryl Palumbo from Glassjaw. TICKETS ON SALE THIS SUNDAY, FEBRUARY 15. (Please note that the Sounds show on March 12 has been cancelled - refunds are
available at place of purchase.)
