School Guilt

I'm 23 years old. I'm in graduate school. This is my last quarter of coursework before I get my Master's Degree.

AND SOMEHOW I still feel TERRIBLY guilty for staying home from school. I woke up this morning and made the tough call of spending the day with my loving girlfriend rather than making the hour long commute to sit in a seminar room discussing 1970s french cinema.

Talk about psychological conditioning -- the guilt never goes away! Somehow it always makes me feel better to call my mom and get her verbal approval of my absence.

How about the rest of you? Do you feel wracked with guilt when you miss school, work, etc?

As long as I'm keeping up with the work. Just remember the stat that only 4% of the population is auditory regarding a primary learning source. The rest are visual graphic or visual textual (or experiential, etc. etc.) So the odds of you leaving the lecture a helluva lot more enlightened are perhaps not as good as your brain seems to think.

So if you're compensating by reading or whatever, I think there's no reason for guilt. I did used to have a ton of guilt, though, when I was supposed to be writing and wasn't.

edited for paranoia over the Col's comment and finding grammatical errors. Bah.

Life's too short.

Like Alex said,
"Time doesn't slow down for those who dream..."

I don't know if that relates at all, but I like to think so. It's like just do it...

By mom used to call those days "Mental Health Days", and we all need them once in a while. Some of us more than others:P. You should've seen the amount of days absent on my high school report card. It looked more like a test score.

I personally love school, this is my last semester and I get my BA in psychology...so I want to enjoy the liberty I have as much as possible. I tend to go on campus and miss one class and go to another....my classes are easy so I dont miss much...but I understand where you are coming from. I sometimes feel like I might miss a class that might change my life or something...but I wouldnt know because I missed the class...anyhow, I think I am just rambling on...with no reasoning. Oh well :P
Peace

Yea I like going to class, to be frank. But I'm a nerd.

Though like Poobs, when I was working full-time, I had absolutely no trouble calling in sick... especially when it was a really nice California day... :)
