well, here's what happened.... in a town that sees 363 sunny days per year, the weather definately rained on our parade yesterday! It rained like
CRAAAZY!!! (by AZ standards) I was optimistic all day that it would clear up and stop coming down so hard by the evening... but in the end, the
festival organizers decided to cancel the shows and let the headlining bands play inside at a nearby venue, The Marquee. (side note: local band
Ruebens Accomplice was already scheduled to play there to celebrate the release of their new cd which is great, check it out- I guess all involved
came to an understanding to let the Ataris, Cake, and IMA Robot play ahead of them) Our guys only played about 20 minutes of the essentials (Dynomite,
Alive, Here Come the Bombs, Black Jettas, STD Dance- not sure if I forgot something.) and that was it for the evening! boo hoo!
The brightest spot of the day though was the interview/performance on the Edge 103.9 in the morning around 9:30- which I would have totally missed
without a call from a friend- it was so hilarious and they played two songs. I have a friend who recorded it and will get that soon so it can be
posted for all to hear- good stuff for sure- lots about Alex's hair (he says its the 'do of ROYALTY) and other comments on the worst pop
trends from recent history. Also, an exciting insight into Justins favorite lunchmeat... lets see if anyone here can guess it!!!
anyway, thanks to Mother Nature, the day had its pluses and minuses:
- short set
- smaller attendance 'cause of confusion about venue change, windy & cold conditions, etc
- wasnt able to take camera into Marquee
- no chit-chat with the guys
+ people who would have been at Cake and Ataris at the other festival stage got their musical horizons expanded by listening to IMA
+ an awesome radio appearance!
+ I got to see the band, even if it was for only a few songs!
ok, thats all for now- hopefully I'll have the recording within a few days to share with everyone- bye!
ps- the weather was totally gorgeous today! grrr!
