I know it's blasphemy, but I actually like the NEW band better than the OLD! Really! Robin Finck is strange but talented and Brain (I think that's his name), the drummer from Primus, beats out Matt Sorum for first chair in the band any day.

Buckethead was funny. He brought out the nunchakus and even did a little breakdancing.

I thought it was very entertaining. Highly recommended for those who don't mind waiting a while for a show (they went on at 10:45 and played for two hours.)

Also, I should add that Mixmaster Mike was the shit. Great set, he spun in Prodigy, Rush, and DJ EZ Rock.

We have a bootleg of the concert, if anyone's interested!

I'd love to hear the show. I've been in hard rock mode lately. :)

I have no doubt the band's talented...I'm just not sure it should be called GNR. ;)

Props to any DJ turntabling Rush!

Don't forget the MMM also snuck Led Zepplin in there too!

I'll most likely get some of the GNR stuff mp3ized this weekend. I'll email you as I will not be posting it on this board.

OK, cool. Whenever you get a chance is fine.

Did you tape Mixmaster Mike too?

As you can tell, my old finicky network firewall has been fixed/updated and I can come to this site more often! Let the Ima Robot fun begin!

Really? What about him scares you? We were trying to figure out his true identity this weekend and think his name is Brian Carroll.

Seacaptain, you weren't going to see GNR in Philly, were you? I seem to remember you had some kind of indefensible argument against the new band...;)

No I'm not going to see them in Philly 'cause I'm in Boston.

No I'm not going to see them in Boston 'cause I've spent my concert-going budget (on Beck/Lips twice, Smokey/Miho, Clinic), as well as the rest of my money on school applications.

Yea, basically I don't think Axl = GNR. I mean, I like him, but you can't deny the rest of the guys in why they were a cool band. Axl should just tour under his own name, if you ask me. Be The Roses or something. He doesn't have the Guns...

Why am I so clueless about geography? For some reason, I thought Philly was near Boston and didn't realize they were playing in Beantown anyway (hits self over head with rubber mallet).

I agree, they're a totally different band, and I wish he would rename and play more new music. In a related story, have you heard the rumor that Slash, Duff, and Matt are teaming up with Courtney Love for some sort of sick, ill-conceived project?

p.s. how was Clinic? I missed them when they came through Mpls and regret it.

Lara, Philly is about as close to here as Vegas is to LA, so you weren't being too unreasonable.

Courtney Love?! :wow: I can't stand her really, but I'd be intrigued to see it happen just for the sickness of it all. Can you imagine?! Actually I'd get a big kick out of it if they toured under the name Guns N' Roses too... Hehe

Clinic rocked! It was really fun. Though, it was pretty much just like the records, not a whole lot more. They're somewhat one-dimensional, though it is a cool dimension. :)

Slash Secrets

SLASH SECRETS

"I got into rock-and-roll because I wanted the chicks. The Dixie Chicks."
"I got the name Slash because I used to work in a grocery store and I was in charge of reducing prices for really big sales."

"One time we played a concert in Antwerp, Belgium. At least I thought it was Antwerp, Belgium. Turns out it was a Stop 'n Shop in Wisconsin somewhere, but it was fun man."

"If I ever go bald, I'll kill myself."

"The original name for Guns 'n Roses was Roses 'n Guns, but that just sounded stupid."

"I once asked Axl why he left the 'E' off his name. He started crying and said he thought he'd spelled it right."

"Almost every night I have a dream where one of my pet snakes eats all those boys in Hanson."

"Someone once asked me what I liked better-kittens or puppies. And I said "'It's a tie man.' They said- 'Too close to call?' I said, 'No, man, too cute to call.'"

"My original nickname was 'Splash' because I loved that movie so much."

"I guess you could say there are two Slashes. There's the crazy, rock-and-roll Slash, he's wild. And then there's the real Slash- he collects miniature soaps and treats his hookers real nice."

"An anagram of Axl Rose is oral sex. Why do I know? Because when I'm not playing music I love solving erotic jumbles."

"Originally, I wanted to call the band 'Guns 'n Robots.' I still believe that if we had just called ourselves 'Guns 'n Robots' we'd still be together."

Haha, while I never could stand The Offspring, I found this pretty funny:

--

THE OFFSPRING have landed themselves in the midst of controversy after making a joke at AXL ROSE's expense.

The Californian punk band were proposing to call their next album 'Chinese Democracy (You Snooze You Lose)' in reference to Guns N’ Roses' long-mooted 'Chinese Democracy' LP, a record that has been under development for eight years.

However, Rose has hit back with a cease and desist letter from his attorneys, according to The Offspring's's official website, www.offspring.com. There has been no further word from The Offspring regarding future action.
