Oxford Zodiac - 17.8.04
The first band on where an English old-skool rock band called Tokoyo Dragons. If you've ever seen the movie 'Rock Star', imagine the
band in that, they sound/act/look exactly like them. Another comparison is Aerosmith. They got the crowd going, but the songs where bland and
repitive.
Datsuns came on at around 9.15, and opened with the brilliant 'Get Up! Dont Fight it' from the new CD. At first, the crowd seemed very
quiet, noone jumped around, which was a bit dissapointing. Dolf had to spur people on to make some noise ('This is the bit where you make the
noise'

and still people where quite subjude. It wasn't untill they played
material from the first CD, when people started to move around abit (including this 40+ year old tall cunt that kept on falling over and taking loads
of people out with him).
Over the 1hour 30 they were on for they played (In no particular order)
Sittin' Pretty
Hong Kong Fury
Harmonic Generator
Lady
Freeze Sucker
What Would I Know ('This song is a bit self indulgent'

Get Up
I Got No Words
Cherry Lane
Fink For The Man
Messin' Around
In Love
MF From Hell (Dolf introdruced it with 'We're going to play another love song now'

Blacken My Thumb
And probably a couple more of the new album i cant remeber.
It was a great gig, but, as i already said, it was just the crowd that let the night down a bit. Dolf had a problem or two with his bass mid-set, but
they managed to ad-lib their way out of that ok. 'I Got No Words' was a definate highlight of the night, and enhanced the fact that we were
watching a 'stadium act' in a tiny venue. 'Harmonic Generator' also had a magic feel when the guitarist and lead singer put their
instruments down and sung the begining with a ground singalong.
If you have a catch the Datsuns, make sure you get a ticket. Top Stuff
