5.1 Production Services is an award winning company offering state of the art production services to the music and entertainment industries.
Concurrently, the company has named Tom Hutten to the newly created post of Director of Services, New York. Bob Michaels, president, 5.1 Production
Services, based in West Los Angeles, made the announcement.
Regarding the company’s growth, Mr. Michaels said, “During the past several years, the creative abilities of our company have allowed us to produce
music DVD releases from some of the biggest music performers in the world, including Janet Jackson, the Foo Fighters, Brittney Spears, Sting, Eminem,
recent, multi-Grammy Award winner Ben Harper, Usher, Norah Jones, R. Kelly, Outkast, Sarah Brightman, Chingy, and dozens more. At the moment, we are
in conversations with other major artists to either produce or record their upcoming projects, with new deals expected to be announced soon.”
He added, “Tom is an ideal executive to run our New York operations, and help further establish 5.1 Production Services to the major record labels and
music artists based on the East Coast.”
Mr. Hutten said, “I am very excited to be working for 5.1 Production Services in their new New York office. I’m looking forward to bringing to the
East Coast the same reputation for quality they have long ago established on the West Coast.”
Tom Hutten attended New York University where he majored in the school’s Music Technology program. While there, he also worked on behalf of several
media companies, including Digital Domain, Clack Sound Studios, and The Lodge as an assistant. In 1998, he dedicated his time to The Lodge working
with Emily Lazar. There, he assisted Emily with many of her sessions and eventually worked on sessions of his own. At the beginning of 2001, he took a
short break, later deciding to go back to mastering.
In 2001, Tom launched his own company, along with partner Ray Martin, called Bionic Mastering. At the same time, Metropolis DVD approached him with an
opportunity to work as an audio engineer for their titles; he did so, and eventually became their product manager. While at Metropolis DVD, Tom worked
on DVD titles such as The Rolling Stones’ ‘Four Flicks’ The Beastie Boys’ ‘Anthology’ Palm Pictures’ Directors Series, Slipknot’s ‘Disasterpieces’ and
the Grammy Nominated Nappy Roots’ ‘The World According to Nappy’.
After leaving Metropolis DVD, Tom continued with Bionic Mastering working with artists such as Battles, Ima Robot, The Thrills, Cub Country,
Christiansen, The Twigs, Terror, John Wesley Harding, The Cro-Mags, Cardia and The Mammals.
