My little dilemma..
K..So get this..At my job, my boss and I were kind of tight..Not on my part, but she felt the need to share a lot of her life with me..I know all
about her son being an abusive asshole to his wife..I know about her son's mental breakdown..I know about her molestation experiences..I even took
pics of her for her eHarmony account..She loves my son and was always really cool when I had family stuff come up..So, about a month ago, I was laid
off..Just one of many in my company..My boss didn't say a word while the HR chick was doing her spiel..No heads up..Nothing..So, I digress..
One of my friends is having a birthday party for her 1 year old..I accepted the evite and then just last week figured she was going to invite my boss
since they talked a bit outside of work..Now apparently my old boss said she's going to the party..My friend said she only invited her because she
figured I'd at least have one person that I knew there..She said if she had known about the lay off she wouldn't have invited her..
So..My dilemma..How in the hell do I handle this? I really don't want to see her..I'm still pretty angry about the lay off..At the end of the day,
it's a good thing because I hated that company and will be moving soon anyways..BUT, she was a shitty manager and I'm still a bit bitter..AND I've
TOTALLY gained weight since I was laid off and haven't gotten another job, which I probably won't get anyways since I'll be moving! I don't think I
can be fake and nice to her but I'm not going to go off on her at my friend's daughter's party! What should I do??? :puzzled:

Poor Poops....
Obviously your boss was pressured by her HR department and the decision or ability to keep you in the company was out of her control. In this
situation, she decided to cut communications with you to hide her own feelings of worthlessness given she had no ability to help you. If you were
looking up to her for guidance and support, how can she live up to that when she has no power to help you. Damn the man!
Well maybe, if she was a good manager, she would have shown you support through reaching out to her network and offering to help you in your search
for a new position, or simply explaining the messed up politics and lack of foresight by your executive management that lead them to a place where the
were forced to to layoff workers.
So, my advice to you is to hold you head high. Who cares if you've been living well and there's few extra pounds from all of your fine dining. Who
cares if you are still searching for a job, your holding out for an opportunity that is worthy of what you are able to bring to the table and you
won't settle for any old job.
So you go to that party. And when you run into your boss speak the truth, but don't coat it with spite or malice for the pity is with your ex-boss
for not doing the right thing and your ex-boss knows it deep down inside inside.

My guess will be that even though your bitter your still kind of friends deep down and side. It's hard stuff getting laid off and still trying to be
friends with the previous boss/manager. (It happened to me in a different sort of a way) I'm still friends with the Owner of the company because they
would higher me back in a heart beat but it's the manager that I have a spank with. In my eyes she's the one bringing the company down. Yes I'm nice
to her, I still have to respect her because she's older then me but it's hard.
My advice to you is go to the party. Be nice (it may be hard) and if she brings it up tell her the truth. Don't go over the top about it because your
still bitter but you still have to let her know that you were hurt by what happened. Yes, lay offs happen. It sucks major. But it shouldn't be worth
ruining a friendship because of it. On the other hand though, she should have stood up for you just enough, even if it made a difference or not.
That's my 2 bits. Hope it helps.

Yeah..I'll be nice just because I'm polite..But still wanting to be friends? No..I never wanted to be friends with her in the first place..She was my
manager..I knew that the line shouldn't be crossed..She didn't..To be honest, I wanted to stay on her good side because the people that got on her bad
side were treated like shit.. Horrible manager..I can't wait until
that company folds..

Well then be polite but rip her apart. Make her feel guilty so she doesn't make the same mistake twice.
