One Lane Away From Death

Death isn't pretty.

On our way back home from The Viper Room gig drac and I were only one lane away from it; crazy.

Heading down Sunset towards the 405 we were at a stoplight for a good 30 seconds, stopped.

All of a sudden the loudest noise you could imagine; it was like we were being bombed, but we couldn't tell what was happening. Suddenly, the vehicle debris was everywhere.

Luckily, my car wasn't hit. It was all in the first lane, the lane to the right of us. We were the first car at the light (left lane) and next to us (right lane) was an ES300; behind the ES a Range Rover. A BMW 3-Series, piloted by a driver who surely had too many cocktails careened into the back of the Range Rover at 40 mph plus; never once trying to brake. It was a mess.

Drac got the opportunity to hop out and say she’s a doctor [well…a med student] and help some people out of the cars, only to be out gunned by the Neuro-resident who stopped in his shinny yellow Viper to check out everyone’s cranial nerves; Thing to come drac.

If that BMW was one lane over it surely would have taken out my S2000, seeing what it did to the Range Rover.

Drive safe and stay away from the drunk drivers

WOW :( I'm so glad you two are OK. Do you know if someone was killed? Or how extensive the injuries were? I'm sure you were shaking all the way home. I avoided Sunset and took La C. home. Not to say it couldn't have happened there as well. And cheers to drac for jumping in to help. Geez - I'm so glad you made it home alright.

To my surprise everyone was walking; not so steadily, but still walking. By looking at the car you would say the guy had to be dead, but he wasn't. He was ok.

It's just if it hit my little car we would have been toast.

Ouch a little too close to home. Any car doesn't mix with alcohol, but especially German ones. The M3 should be outlawed that car is amazing. Luckily for the 3-series driver he had enough airbags to save his ass. Talk about ruining an evening.
