#3 On Netxnews' Top Overlooked Albums

Netxnews.com,, long a supporter of the band, has listed them as #3 on its Top 10 Overlooked Albums:

Top ten most recent overlooked albums

by Doug Allen
April 01, 2004

10. Turbonegro- Scandinavian Leather:With song titles like Drenched in Blood and Wipe it 'til it Bleeds, how could it not be good.

9. The Rapture-Echoes: The Rapture's latest effort is full of oddball lyrics and great musicianship, it's very catchy.

8. Children of Bodom-Hate Crew DeathRoll: This is aScandinavian based band, where black metal reigns, and they are ready to take the crown as kings.

7. Tom Waits-Alice: Tom Waits always puts out great albums, he is an amazing lyricist and musician. His voice is deep and raspy, he definitely doesn't sound like a white guy.

6. Vaux-There Must Be Some Way to Stop Them: these guys put together a really good album that is so much different than most "screamo" bands out right now, they are also amazing live.

5. Johnny Cash- Unearthed box set: This is a five disc set of unreleased songs produced by Rick Ruben during the American Recordings sessions, Cash has never been better.

4. The Flaming Lips-Yoshimi Battles the Pink Robots: I know The Flaming Lips have been around since about 1986, but this album is their best work to date. It is a must have for any music fan.

3. Ima Robot-Ima Robot: This is an excellent album, which sounds like David Bowie on even more crack. It sounds like nothing that has come out in years.

2. From Autumn to Ashes-The Fiction we Live: Amazing album, blew me away the first time I heard it and gets better with each listen.

1. The Darkness-Permission to Land: Most of you have heard The Darkness by now, but if you don't have this album already, shame on you. When I first heard this I didn't know if they were serious or not, but after giving it a chance I realized it was. These English rockers are here to bring rock n' roll back from it's grave, which died BEFORE Nirvana.
