Warped Tour Thoughts

Okay everyone, as the Mtv tour comes to a merciful end, what are your thoughts about the potential for the Warped tour this summer?

It's a more eclectic range of bands this year compared to the past, so the possibility of finding fans might be better than it was on the H****stank swing.

But on the other hand, if you classify Ima Robot more as belonging to a category populated by an entirely different type of band, you might expect the same negative response.

I guess my opinion is that they're just too good for it. They paid their debt to society by playing to a crowd that could use a dose of their music already--meanwhile, there are a lot of eager fans waiting for an extended club tour (not just in the U.S. but in much of Europe and Australia, as well).

Scissor Sisters announced a U.S. tour in the fall - could be a good pairing.

I don't have a real strong opinion regarding the Warped Tour as a whole. While I would obviously prefer that IMA Robot do a club-tour instead, I can understand their reasons for doing it. I don't expect a negative response from the Warped crowd. I really think there will be a lot of enthusiasm for the band. Be prepared for tons of KIDS, but they'll be more openminded and almost searching for a band a little less formula and out of the ordinary compared to what they're familiar with. I anticipate they'll make a lot of new fans.

Of course, I would NEVER go to a Warped (tour/festival?) if IMA Robot wasn't playing. My plan is to attend the San Diego and Ventura dates, then make my decision to attend the northern dates or not based on that experience.

Yeah..I think they fit in on Warped way more than this MTV tour..I still think they'll come across some obnoxious people, but I think as a whole, the kids are going to freak over them..I think it's just exposure for them which can never be a bad thing, right?

I think if they paired up with Scissor Sisters, that would be awesome! I've been listening to them a lot since you (Drac) mentioned them and I think it would be a perfect fit..

ya know. i don't love the warped tour.
I know I would never of been going if Ima wasn't.
I do find the mix a bit strange.
however IMA is a broad sounding band.
I see the fit, but I don't know how well everyone will react.
lets hope it's good, you never know.
these tours do seem a bit missed mached to me.
BUT, it's hard to find a good combo with such a band like IMA ROBOT.
should be fun. hope the kiddys enjoy. I guess will all find out :D

They will get a better response on the warped tour than the MTV one, although I dont think they will get that much more of a better response. The warped tour is filled with 15 year old trucker hat , dickies wearing kids that are think they are "punk" that listem to the friendly pop "punk" or people that are leather wearing, spike covered "punks" that are too hardcore for bands other than Rancid, lars and the bastards G.G. Allen, etc... No one is willing to expand their minds just a little bit and try to pay attention to different bands that don sound the same. I think the Warped Tour is the WORST concert, the only reason I would go is to see Ima Robot and I would probably leave after they finished their set. Ima Robot would be better to do a club tour, as stated above, with a band like The Fever or The Scissor Sisters or something.

I really wish they were doing club tours instead of the Warped Tour. I personally can't stand the Warped Tour. A bunch of "hardcore", Good Charlotte-listening tweens who think they are "LyKe S0 pUnK RaWk!!11!!oMg!!" Ick.:mad:

The only reason I would go is for Ima Robot, of course. But I really think that the Bot is too good for the Warped Tour!

Yes, they might gain some new fans...but don't you think that we can get more new fans for them on our own rather than the Warped Tour? A lot of those people are close-minded, and I'm not sure how they're going to react to Ima Robot. I guess we'll wait and see, eh? :P

I agree that Ima reflects a bit of "punk", but the kids at the Warped Tour think that Good Charlotte and Simple Plan are "punk." Those two bands are completely different from the 'Bot, so it'll be interesting to see how the crowd reacts to them...

I'm not even sure if I'm going for sure or not yet. I don't even know how much tickets are and if they're still available! But if I do go, I'd like to also see The Sounds (uhh...they're playing, right?)

That would be a brilliant idea! The last Jane's Addiction show I saw used burlesque dancers in their actual act.
