READING READING READING!!!

sooooooooo, just got back. really awesome!! i was kinda ill but the bands were amazing. my band of the festival is eighties matchbox b line disaster (i'm sure dyler wil have something to say! :P:P:P:D)
they were awesome and after waiting to meet them in the signing tent for 3 hours they were the nicest guys ever, especially yummy lead singer guy mcnight. the white stripes ruled and i met melissa auf der maur in the signing tent aswell with my friend lauren. she was so sweet and beautiful. it was insanely muddy due to rain on the wednesday, thursday and a little on friday. it was awesomely awesome!! the departure were really good as were the libertines. i missed bloc party tho :( but i am seeing them in october :):):D that was reading in a nutshell then!! everyone has to experience it, its fucking awesome!! :D will post my reading pictures soon!

ok,

Goldie Lookin Chain - Great way to start the festival. Funny, positive, pissing it down and drunk. I would love to hate them, but some how my heart warms to them. 7/10

The Open - WOW! I thought the sound would be a bit poor, what with them being on so early, but it was great. They rocked out to the max, reminding me of Interpol last year. For everyone one that was there, i think they witnessed the start of something massive to come. They were absolutely amazing live. 8/10

Ikara Colt - Sound bad, balance band, vocals to quiet. The bassist and guitarist are drop dead gorgeous though, which kind of knumbed the pain of how awful the sound was. They dried their best to conquer it, but never quite made it. Wanna Be That Way did sound good however. 6/10

The Hives - One of those bands you love for ages (about 4 years) without seeing them. To be honest, from mp3's ive heard of them live, i don't know why i had such high expectations. Bland and boring. Deeply Deeply dissapointed by them. 5/10

!!! - We danced, we then danced some more, then we danced some more. Absolutely fantastic stuff. Well worth checking them out live. 'HELLO?!' 9/10

Kasabian - On the walk from the tent to the Carling Stage, we could hear The Darkness open their set up, to which we all smiled as we realised just how lucky we were going to be by missing that pile of shit and watching the best live band in the country, Kasabian. They played the hits 'Processed Beats' 'Club Foot' 'Reason Is Treason' and 'LSF' and completely tore the tent down with there kickass rock revolution. When The D*rkness decided it would be a good idea to set of some fire works, Kasabian countered it by breaking into LSF. It was THE Festival Moment for me. 10/10

So.....Saturday.

Bloc Party - WOW. Played about 4 new songs, plus the recognisble few including Shes Hearing Voices and Little Thoughts. The sound was great and the band were so tight. Again, they are going to explode in the next few months. 8/10

Sean Lock - My favourite comedian, from 15 Storeys High, Sean Lock packed out the Comedy stage and had people trying to hear from about 20 metres outside the tent! He was very funny, allthough alot of his stuff i had heard before. 8/10

Duke Spirit - Fucking awesome. I was right at the front of the Carling Stage for this one. A great live band again with an amazingly attractive front woman. Alot of support for the band, who, with an album out in september, should be big. 8/10

Franz Ferdinand - *yawns*. I took my only festival poo during this band, thats how boring they were. Allthough, give em some credit the track '40ft' did sound pretty average. 4/10

The Libertines - A Band i adore on CD, but live they just werent the biscuit. There was no crowd interaction and they all seemed to be up there not enjoying them selves. When people began to chant 'Pete' you knew that things would not get any better. Along with Franz, the Libs seem to be a band that can draw big crowds, put the hit songs in strategic places during the set, and the crowd love it. The Drummer seemed to enjoy himselve, running around the stage on one occasion, whoch was the only hightlight of the set. 5/10

Morrissey - Played new stuff, old stuff and Smiths stuff. Still a rock god in my eyes, and played a set that showed it. Also a very funny man. Cool stage background too. 8/10

White Stripes - er, boring, back to the tent for me. Watched about 4 songs. I actualyl quite like them on CD (i own 2 cds by them!) but live they are just some novely garage band, which really does not fit on the main stage headlining at reading. 3/10

And finally....Sunday,

The Streets - We all got 'tinned up' back at the tent from about midday till 3 and got in a most rowdy moods for the king of UK Rock, Mr Mike Skinnear. Have seen the Streets once before and they were wicked, so i was really looking forward to it. We all got right to the front and were dancing around. It was a great atmosphere, but then again, we were off our tits. Comedy highlight, Skinnera doing a wicked flick up with a blow up football on stage. Oh, and the intro to Dont Mug Your Self 9/10

50 Cent - I just wanted to see if he would get bottled off, and guess what, he DID! I dont agree with his attitude on guns etc, but i wouldnt throw a bottle at him. Also, it was a stupid time to put him on. It was funny, becasue Fiddy & G-Unit were laiughing and chucking the bottles back at the crowd. After half an hour, they walked off. 6/10

Von Bondies - Went to see them once before at the Astoria and was bitterly dissapointed because on disk they sound so great but live they are boring and shit. After 5 songs i went and sat down and listened to the rest from outside the tent. Even from there it sounded bad. Thats twice now, and i'm stil yet to be impressed. It didnt help that the sound was so quiet. 2/10

Supergrass - After the dissapointment of TVBs, Supergrass playing a really good set would have made it a tad better day. I just could stick it though. I really wanted to hear 'Strange Ones' in the first 15 minutes, but they didnt play it, so i left. 5/10

Razhel & Mike Patton - OH MY GOD! WHAT A WAY TO END THE FESTIVAL. Incase you dont know, Rahzel is from The Roots and he is the best beat-boxer around. So damn good. Mike Patton is from Faith No More. Imagine them two on stage. It was fucking brilliant. They did '7 Nation Army' and 'Barbie Girl' covers, which got the crowd pumped. It is a true art form Rahzel's got going on there, and seeing Patton up there with him is just great. 9/10

Not too much.. I'll go see them again but not at the ICA... A friend odf mine has been raving about them for a while now but like i said they didn't grab me too much but then again it's hard listening to a band in a tent with not too good of a sound..
