I'm a Christian. I beleive in God and I like going to church. My parents are weird. My Dad is a Moslem and my Mom is a Pagan. Her friends are Sikh, Buddhist and Wiccan. Then my dad converted to Judaism to marry a Jewish woman. Then my Grandmother went from being Catholic to Protestent to some weird new age thing. They're all nuts. But Mom says basic human values are the same throughout almost all religious philosophies. What's logical about religion anyway? Nothing. It's all about faith which is inherently illogical because there is no proof.

Humans are "naturally made" to eat, drink, shit and fuck. That's about it. Spirituality is a red herring.

No see. It’s not religion. It’s "spiritual" in some way.
I’m using poor words.
Mysticism and morality are better words a better word. (Even in the absence of it's still there)
I didn't mean it in a religious context, you can be an atheist and have it.

I think religion appeals to people because it gives them a sense of security. It makes them feel better about the afterlife, and makes them feel that they have some control over their lives that if they believe this or pray this many times that good things will happen to them. It scares people to think that they have absolutely no control in this world and everything is random.

Dude, All I know its that the only reason why religion was invented was becuase man kind needed a reason why we were here, and where we came from and whatnot. In my eyes religion is a stupid excuse for life.

well i think 'stupid excuse' is a bit overrated. they just thought of the thing most logical at the moment, and over time we thought of even more logical things again and again, but who says were not completely wrong on the answers to questions of where we come from which we now assume as logic?

I agree as well.

Maybe I just have a sociological view on it.
What I was saying is the same thing as above, and just that all humans tend to have the need for it in one way or the other.
Example, most of us here and music.

Even if it's not religion Humans naturally do it.
It is that tendency that breeds religion.
Animals don't do it....
Is my point more clear now?
It seems it's hard for me to explain.
I'm not justifying religion, just saying we have a tendency to "worship" "believe"...
And feel free to disagree, we all have differences.
I just wanted to be sure you all understood I’m not saying were naturally religious, but naturally have the tendencies that breed religion.

That or I just took one too many sociology classes.

wow :wow: I'm ranting again, at 6 am.

I totally understand. Something about spirituality appeals to people. Every culture has one religion or another that they've created on their own, even before they've come in contact with other civilazations. And most religions tend to move towards monotheism as well. Those ideas just appeal to people. I think that monotheism goes back to our animal instincts in that we always looked up to a dominant male to be our leader. So we tend to like the idea of an omnipotent male leader  But that's just my weird theory...
