UCLA cancelled
Hi,
Our gig today at UCLA has been cancelled due to Alex just becoming ill with a case of strep throat. Unfortunately, he just can't sing at all
right now, and the repercussions of doing a show are far too serious, obviously. So there it is. So sorry!
Hope to see you soon.
Best,
Justin
p.s. I can't seem to post over at .com for some reason; could someone be so kind as to mention this over there as well?

>>I tell you I have been hacking up them great balls of white cold charcoal ever since I made out with Bonnie from "Life with Bonnies"
two weeks ago...
COL....? Did I miss you in costume at the Roxy?
and miami vice versa? that was the night for tricks vs. treats... It rained Friday night...I went to the bank all dressed in black with shades,
stocking cap, panty hose over the shoulder, and...you know, made jokes, but otherwise the night was a crummy bust...bunch a dragqueens out there with
runny makeup I bet...farking pissed for sure. This year 'they' gave out colds to those who went out it seems.

...what up Baltimore?...yeah that liner...looked more like an odor eater to me...but it was all stiff and I actually think it made a sound when he bit
into it,
like the sound leaves make when you bite into a leaf sandwich.

nurz,
was in SF for Halloween and the Roxy show. What exactly were you dressed as?
-anyone want to venture a conspiracy theory and say show was cancelled today for lack of a prepared drummer? Just a thought...to spark
'conversation' of course.

Your are wise beyond your years colforbin6. I was trying to skirt around that one! Now it's out in the open!
Alex did get a bad case of strep before one of the Derby shows last year; the show ended up cancelled.
All-in-all, whatever the reason, they care about putting on a quality show.
We know they could have played two songs with the new drummer, Scott.

i know, I know. I just wanted to give us something to talk about since my paper on "Elder Law" is exactly flowing.
If a cancelled show is what they want, a cancelled show they shall have. Afterall, we are just along for the ride.

Hee hee, "Elder Law." What is it about the word "Elder?" I especially like "Elderhostel."
Well to add a medical perspective to the maxi pad controversy, you cannot get strep from a maxi pad, even a used one. You would be more likely to get
a gram negative bacteria like E.Coli or perhaps a fungus, if you were particularly unlucky.
Strep in singers comes about frequently because of a dry environment (bacteria really thrive in a dry place) most likely caused by overuse.
Let's hope he's chugging back the water so that the Troub show is still doable.

Can I interject?
Hi,
I know y'all are just having fun, but let me be clear: Alex very much has strep throat.
Just for the record, we would never front on an issue like this. Cancelling shows for this band is like cutting off appendages. It is an absolute
last resort that gives us no pleasure. Usually we just play sick, unless it's something that could permanently fuck someone up (like
Alex's voice in this case), which is total diminishing returns.
See you around,
JMJ
p.s. Scott Devours is indeed ready; we enjoyed playing Phoenix on Saturday, and he's chomping at the bit for our upcoming tour as are all of us.
A new chapter begins.

Yeah, if anything, you'd expect Alex to take more time off to recuperate--the shows coming up this month are coming fast and furious.
Everyone take care of themselves. We'll buy stock in echinacea!

Thanks for clearing that up JMJ.
Always having fun! Didn't think about the AZ show, that should have been sign enough that everything is a go Ima Robot style.
Can't wait to to see the full set at The Troub to see what Scott brings to the stage. Must say that I did enjoy the couple songs he banged out
at The Roxy. I think he hits the drums harder than Joey, but as I was in shock, after the audiance pull, who knows what I was interpreting then.
Give that boy some chicken soup and a beef buritto; to go.

Perhaps Drac can explain to us what cutting off appendages is like?

Actually, as we speak Mr. Waters is filming his latest masterpeice about 30 minutes from where I live. Somewhere on Harford Road. He usually hangs at
Club Charles on Charles Street. I must say we have an original style here in Balmer! My cousin was an extra in "Cry Baby". She's one of
the girls in the beach scene at Turkey Point (first 1/2 hour of movie). I auditioned, but the luck wasn't there for me. I think she got to see
Johnny Depp-but not actually meet him. Anyway, hopefully the movie will be as cool as "Hairspray", I heard they will be doing a musical for
"Cry Baby" next. I saw "Hairspray" on Broadway and it was wonderful!!
