What's Your Most Memorable Moment at an Ima Robot Show?

Just wondering if anyone has any funny or amazing stories at an Ima Robot show?

Mine was finding out that my friend kept grabbing their butts and didn't tell me til a week later. It was memorable because looking back, I now know why the guys kept smiling and laughing when she got her picture taken with them......:o:wow::wow::wow::wow:

HA! That's hilarious. I've got quite a few, because I've been to so many, but the one that sticks out is the first show I ever attended at the Viper in 2002 when I was on the back wall, and Beck walked in front of me, and I sort of punched him in the arm to get his attention, and say "HI", and he turned, and looked with this blank stare like, "Why did you just punch me?". He was cool though.:) Actually, a lot of things happened that night, but that sticks out most.

Ah yes..My Beck run-in at a Bot show was quite memorable..I even got a hug from him..What a great night..That was my first Bot show as well!

Another one would be the Troub show when I got home and realized my bra had come unhooked.I had just one little hook holding on for dear life..Oi..

Great topic, Micher! Here are mine:

1) Viper Room last fall - that show when they were on the tail end of obscurity and right on the verge of breaking out, the room was packed with people who had embraced the album (which had been out for like three weeks) or had been there from the early days...crazy crazy performance with the band going OFF. Alex leaping about and even running across the keyboards at one point.

2) Henry Ford January '04 - incredible first taste of the mania beginning to surround the band...this time it was the crowd leaping about. There was some awesome energy in the room that night, it's one Ima Robot show I will never forget (and will compare future shows to, no doubt).

3) Metro - May '03 - Phobiac will probably list this up there too, but the shout out from Alex to the "L.A. friends" followed by Ages of Ruin was pretty classic.

4) Troubador - August '04 (?) - First live play of STD Dance - totally took me by surprise and was the first real departure from the more punk-influenced stuff. The crowd loved it and I really get a kick out of seeing the reaction from people at shows who hear it for the first time.

Yikes....every show is special in its own way; each warming a different area of my body.

ViperRoom (2002): the lineup consisted of Loaded Love, Black Money, Apples, etc. Some dude outside was speaking to the bands managers and was talking about myself and draconian singing along to every song. Hopefully we didn't ruin it for him; draconian isn't ready for American Idol.

SpaceLand (2002): Ages of Ruin debuts and the energy that was released from five musicians is indescribable. What ever happened to New Negatives?

Neuwave yelling after the set is over…”Black Money….Black Money is the best man.” or something to that sort.

La Cigel, The Astoria, The Metro: Of course the “serendipitous” business schedule that takes me to Paris and London catching the entire Ima Robot European tour…opening in Paris, for Blur at The Astoria and at The Metro; Alex to dedicate Ages of Ruin for the L.A. folk (draconian and myself); unless the twelve others Brits were from L.A.

Meeting Alex at the Troub when they opened for Junior Senior was my best moment... He was so calm, I guess I thought he'd be moving all tweeky like he is on stage. He was just chillin after the show ... Good Times :saint:

well, last night.

Alex sung the end of 'Black Jettas' on one of the 'amps' at the front, turned round like a car! He then fell off and sung the first verse of Scream lying on his arse!! GREAT!

Hey Boogiewalls, I don't remember Alex smelling anyone's arm during their set at Fletchers and I was in the front row. Where were you? Are you that guy with the stuffed toy of Rudolphs dentist friend?

Yes, every show is quite memorable in it's own rite, but the Roxy show last September was particularly, uh...rambunctious. There was a really rad sort of magnetic feeling in the crowd, kind of a "dying for it" feel. Or maybe it was just me. Anyway, it was the show where Scott was initiated, and as many of you will recall, after Joey keeled over, the band asked if there was a drummer in the audience. I yelled out "I play skin flute!" a little louder than I had intended to, and Alex said "I know YOU do". There's a Moment of Zen for ya!

some dumb song for beggining flute players, I think that's what they teach most kids in middle school music class. Consider it the easiest notes to play.:)

Would be a great name for a band.......

Now, Skin Flute...that might be a funky name for a girl band.

- The video shoot show :)
- The "death" of Joey at the Roxy with a 'What are we Made From" performance that blew me away
- The entirety of the packed Viper Room show! Their best yet, I think.

When they opened for The White Stripes in Berkeley my friends and I were doing this weird "neo-peace" sign with our hands at the very front of the crowd and Alex was asking us what kind of piece sign it was. Then later in the show he was trying to do it, but couldn't figure out what fingers to put up. It was pretty funny. You can hear him asking us about it if you listen to the recording of the 9-13-03 show in the download area. I got all excited. Anyway, it was an awesome show and I'll most definitely remember that night.
