Some bands take their work much too seriously. They spend months locked in a darkened studio, examining their navels, attempting to produce some piece
of overblown proggery that Rick Wakeman would have been proud of. Others like LA’s Ima Robot couldn’t give a flying fig. They realise music’s supposed
to be fun and thank god for that. If you’ve ever enjoyed the oddball electro pop doodlings of Sparks or Devo AND the catchy keyboard rock elements of
Dandy Warhols or Hot Hot Heat then you’ll find much to appreciate here. Always catchy, they build from fairly conventional synth patterns, yelped
rushed vocals and punky or funky guitar hooks. None of it’s particularly groundbreaking but it sure is entertaining. You know where you can stick your
Radiohead.
