Year-End Lists
I love these lists. My criteria for the year's best is strictly behavioral, involving only the frequency of times played on my stereo:
1) The Faint - Wet From Birth
2) The Hives - Tyrannosaurus Hives
3) Scissor Sisters - S/T
4) The Fall-Outs - Summertime
5) The Killers - Hot Fuss
6) Franz Ferdinand - S/T
7) Fiery Furnaces - Blueberry Boat
8) Arcade Fire - Funeral
9) Pinback - Summer in Abaddon
10) The Magnetic Fields - i
Best shows:
The Faint, Minneapolis
Pixies, Minneapolis
PJ Harvey, Minneapolis
it was a very Pitchfork year
bring on Ima Robot 2005!

I really like Pinback. Have you ever seen them live? I missed them on numerous occasions and I was wondering if their live performance was actually
worth me regretting that I didn't go.

Ya, I assumed they would be. I've become re-addicted to Blue Screen Life. They just played two shows in SF. But I'm making myself feel
better by telling myself that they were 18+. Of course, they don't check the 18+ all that much. It's the 21+ that's hard for us
youngins to get into. Maybe I'll just go to Japan to see them....

I'll probably lose all street or indie cred with my current number one, but then again, I probably never really had any. There are still a few I
want to get though like Arcade Fire and John Cale, so I may change this around in a month.
1. U2 - How To Dismantle an Atomic Bomb
2. Múm - Summer Make Good
3. Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds - Abattoir Blues / The Lyre of Orpheus
4. Fiery Furnaces - Blueberry Boat
5. The Roots - The Tipping Point
6. Tom Waits - Real Gone
7. Sonic Youth - Sonic Nurse
8. Mos Def - The New Danger
9. Blues Explosion - Damage
10. Handsome Boy Modeling School - White People
10. Wilco - A Ghost Is Born
10. PJ Harvey - Uh Huh Her

HOPE OF THE STATES-The Lost Riots
Franz Ferdinand-S/T
Elefant-Sunlight Makes Me Paranoid
Ambulance Ltd-S/T
The Libertines-S/T
Razorlight-Up All Night
Delays-Faded Seaside Glamour
The Killers-Hot Fuss
Vhs or Beta-Night on Fire
Interpol-Antics
(Note: I would include other bands that are my favorites, but this is a list of albums that came out in 2004, so yeah...)
Favorite live shows of '04:
+Hope of the States-September. Popscene in San Francisco. I've been to over 40 shows, and this is hands-down the best live show I have *ever*
seen.
+The Strokes-April in SF, because it was a great show and I met them (as well as the people who are now my close friends). May in NYC, in the middle
of Central Park.
+Ima Robot-SF in March. Second time seeing them. SO much fun!
+Garage Rock Festival in NYC in August. Great experience
+Coachella-best AND worst concert of my life. Good memories, though
+Elefant and Ambulance in Boston in August.
+Libertines in NY in August.
+The Bravery in NY in May.
+Razorlight/The Futureheads in SF in November.
+Franz Ferdinand in SF in March, before they got big (small, intimate venue).
This has been the best year! :-D
