Turntable help needed

I picked up a new turntable today and am having problems with it and cant get in touch with my friend that dj's. Its a Acoustech Labs DL-36 and it sounds like crap. I get a bunch of loud clicking noises and its really staticky. My dad seems to think its the needle and I should get it replaced. Does anyone here DJ or know anything about turntables or stereo equipment?

If you really have issues I have a quite a few super good DJ friends who might be able to help.
But I don't know if any of them will

Yeah, it sound like the needle. Sometime if you move the needle without taking it out, you will get a clearer sound.

The needle is fine, it was my parents receiver. Went by future shop yesterday(canadas version of best buy, i know i know...). I was looking at the receivers, tunred around and saw my parents holding one with a grin on their faces. My dad asked what I thought about it, I said it it was the one I wanted and his reply was "good, because I just got it for you as a late xmas present". Needless to say im pretty stoked.
