anybody like regina? thoughts on the new album? etc etc?

I'm a tad obsessed with her. Her new album is fantastic, but very different from her earlier material. A lot of people claim she went mainstream or whatever it is that dullards claim whenever a musician they like demonstrates the least ambition to evolve. As far as I'm concerned, her new album is easily the strangest CD she's ever made. The song Apres Moi alone is worth the purchase.

awesome. i've been obsessed for awhile.. but i haven't purchased her new CD yet! how awful of me.
i think she's amazing though.
i need to get it... i also need to see her live.

Me too. The show she played in San Francisco awhile back was 21+....and four days before my 21st birthday.

BTW, if you buy her new album, definitely get the limited edition, comes with a bonus EP that's really great, more akin to her older material than most of Begin to Hope is. I bought it at DeepDiscountCD for $17 (free shipping).

i have heard her newest rendition of sampson, and i have to say i actually like the older one better.

You're not in the minority, a lot of people feel the same way. I read an interview with Spektor where she said the older version was way too slow, and that the new/faster version is how she plays the song now. I wasn't sure what to think of it at first (true of all the songs from her album I heard before I bought it). The whole album will be really confusing the first time you hear it, and you might not like it at all heh. It's very experimental, really screws around with what a pop song is "supposed" to be.

even if i don't like it.. which i doubt will happen, i'm sure i'll like HER even more. anyone who can get an audienc's attention and then twist stuff around and make them think, has the cool in my book.
