I always though these were pretty good general rules:
1) Act only according to that maxim by which you can, and at the same time would become a universal law.
2) Act so that you always treat others as an end, and never as a means to an end only.
But when you look deeper into the the philosophy behind them they lack a distinction between the concrete and abstract knowledge of thoughts, etc.
Basically, they don't account for intuition; thought...
However;
If all thought is taken away from empirical knowledge, no knowledge of any object remains, because nothing can be thought by mere intuition or
perception. The simple fact that there is within me an affection of my sensibility, establishes in no way any relation of such a representation to any
object.
Here's a great book to read:
http://www.amazon.com/Tao-Pooh-Benjamin-Hoff/dp/0140067477
"Create without possessing. Act without expecting. Guide without interfering."
"If you want to become whole, let yourself be partial. If you want to become straight, let yourself be crooked. If you want to become full, let
yourself be empty. If you want to be reborn, let yourself die. If you want to be given everything, give everything up."
Once they start attacking "Western civilization", "Western culture" I believe that their motivations for whatever it is they are doing fall apart.
We all know the way, however there are many obstacles keeping us off the path...
