Hottie!!!!!poobs - 3-29-2005 at 08:28 AM
No worries..I just thought I'd point it out..Jette - 3-29-2005 at 09:33 AM
i downloaded que onda guero and missing cause you all love beck so, but i honestly dont see whats the big commotion about! its listenable, sure, but
(to me) in NO way comparable to the bots
[Edited on 29-3-2005 by Jette]poobs - 3-29-2005 at 09:53 AM
You have to listen to way more than just those two songs to get what he's all about..A sampling from each record might help..Jette - 3-29-2005 at 10:18 AM
well i didnt know any songs but losers before then so i didnt even know what kind of music he made, therefor i downloaded the songs
but if you know where to find such a sampling, ill be happy to listen seacaptain - 3-29-2005 at 02:43 PM
Just get Odelay or Guero and turn it up and have a good time and you'll see why we're fans. corkey16 - 3-29-2005 at 06:02 PM
Midnite Vultures is a good one too. I love Debra.7cut - 3-30-2005 at 04:45 AM
agreed, "guero" is definately not a Beck album to start with ...if you wanna get into him, listen to the discography chronically ...
i love the "debra" version where he talks on Julia Roberts in the bridge.......and giving a body-body massage ---couldn´t find it online though....
I met you at jc penny
I think your name-tag said jenny
I could step to you
With a fresh pack of gum
And somehow I knew
You were looking for some love
Like a prude that’s rype for the picking
I wouldn’t do you like that
This ain’t cooked chicken
Cause only you got a thing
That I just got to get with I just got to get, get with you
And you know what we’re gonna do
I wanna get with you
Oh girl
And your sister
I think her name is debra
I wanna get with you
Only you girl
And your sister
I think her name is debra
Girl, I only want to be down with you
Cause you got something that
I just got to get with
I’ll pick you up late at night after work
I said lady, step inside my hyundai
I’m gonna take you up to glendale
I’m gonna take you for a real good meal
Cause when our eyes did meet
Girl you know I was packing heat
Ain’t no use in wasting no time getting to know each other
You know the deal
Cause only you’ve got a thing that
I just got to get with
I just got to get with you girl
You know I want to get with you
Only you girl
And your sister
I think her name is debra
I want to get with you girl
And your sister
I think her name is debra
Ooh lovely lady
Girl you drive me crazy
Yeah, I got a little bit of sympathy for you girl
Cause I’m a full grown man
And I’m not afraid to...

I love the end when he says "I'm a full grown man and I'm not a..afraid to.." It's all sexy-like..corkey16 - 3-30-2005 at 08:11 AM
I thought he said at the begining, "I co-stepped to you" which means like walking up to a girl to talk to her knowing you look good and
that she wants you. (new word for today..Co-step) and also at the end he says...I'm a full grown man and i'm not afraid to cry" like in
sexlaws. Correct me please if i'm wrong.
Sexy!!!!

BUt Ebert is hotter than Beck...shite, the ebert virus got ahold of me!

Ok..I will..It's "coldstep to you" and he never says cry at the end..He just leaves it to your imagination of what this full grown man
is not afraid to do..
As far as the sexy factor, I can't say that about either of them..Beck is just one cool mother fucker and Ebert is..Well..He's just a cool
mother fucker as well..I don't look at them as sex symbols on parade..Just as really dope entertainers..7cut - 3-30-2005 at 09:39 AM
but you would fancy a shag, eh ?
corkey16 - 3-30-2005 at 09:39 AM
oh, it's coldstep. Thank you poobs! Is coldstep the same as co-step?
Yeah, you right 7cut, Ebert is sexier.
Yay, i listened to Guero today. I love it!!!:D

Hey poobs, what are the bonus songs on the new Beck album?poobs - 3-30-2005 at 10:35 AM
Umm..Clap Hands, Send A Message To Her, and Chain Reaction..corkey16 - 3-30-2005 at 01:05 PM
cool thanks. i don't have those.poobs - 3-30-2005 at 01:10 PM
You should have bought the deluxe version.. 7cut - 3-31-2005 at 04:05 AM
got the deluxe yesterday. but now i wonder which CDR i´ve been sent like 6 weeks ago .....it doesn´t have "broken drum" nor "farewell
ride" on it or the remixes .....BUT "Chain reaction", "send a message to her" and the rest of the "normal" album.
weird. wasn´t the leaked stuff though.....and i noticed he played "farewell ride" at an Oxford gig a couple of years ago...been reading the
credits and wee, "e-pro" was co-written by the beastie boys. btw. half of the tracks on "guero" were co-written by someone
else....

not neccessarily the same! at times though it is...
not in case of all "guero" stuff...
seacaptain - 4-1-2005 at 06:35 AM
You mean the Dust Brothers then? I didn't think you meant them, as they've co-written a ton of things with Beck, so it shouldn't be a
surprise. Almost all of Odelay and a few things on Vultures. They've long been Beck's partners in songwriting, nothing funny there.
Beck also did write one song on Guero with Jack White.7cut - 4-1-2005 at 07:49 AM
i know..."go it alone" that is, by far the best track on "guero", along with "scarecrow"....

Wasn't beck grandfather a famous designer? (A little beck history here):Ppoobs - 4-1-2005 at 10:44 AM

Neuwave, you'd really dig Guero, go pick it up!7cut - 4-11-2005 at 04:02 AM
so much in love with "scarecrow", "go it alone" and "clap hands". particularly the last one. the more one listens, the
more "guero" turns out to be a grand versatile album.

also. :duh:

What's up with the DVD that comes with it?seacaptain - 4-13-2005 at 08:58 PM
the DVD is full of visuals for each song, you can change them by changing angles/subtitles. it's pretty neat. also like poobs said, the audio
part has 6 extra tracks.7cut - 4-14-2005 at 02:50 AM
poobs which remix do you like best ?
i´m down with the "girl" one .....
btw. already got yer world cup football tix for `06 yet? in case you haven´t you`d better hurry!!
poobs - 4-14-2005 at 06:55 AM
Yeah..We got them..
I like Still Missing a lot..But the Girl remix is really good too..I know it's not a remix, but I can't help listening to Clap Hands at
least twice a day..I've spent all my money on those World Cup tix..I need Beck to hold off on his tour until I can save up again!!corkey16 - 4-14-2005 at 05:38 PM
I like Clap hands too and Still Missing. Very nice.7cut - 4-15-2005 at 01:38 AM

German dates announced ....he´ll be in Munich on the 19th of June, a Sunday. brill ...they charge 35 euro...that´s mad, last time i saw him for like
25 and that´s been too much. not that he´d not be worth it but it´s just silly claiming that much...i saw george clinton and iggy pop for less.
corkey16 - 4-18-2005 at 09:04 AM
Are you going?7cut - 4-19-2005 at 12:58 AM
OF COURSE. i´m still hoping for backstage passes. i´ll be standing in the first row with my silly bbs tshirt on...and dance like randy bread during
"clap hands"
